Heaven Bound

“Flee Babylon, run for your lives. Do not be destroyed because of her sins. It is time for the Lord’s vengeance. He will pay her what she deserves.” Jeremiah 51:6

The above image was taken as people race for their lives in advance of immense wildfires in Northern California which have already claimed the life of one and caused thousands of others to flee homes and property only to have them reduced to smoldering heaps of ash as they watch helplessly on. Burning just north of Napa Valley, there is now not only one fire but two burning so out of control that the governor of California has declared a state of emergency there.

It is with a heavy heart that I write this post. The state of America is not good. In fact, it is very, very bad. So bad in fact that God is left with no choice but to reduce it to a heap of smoldering ash – like what is happening in California, but, worse – much worse.

I’ve been studying and praying the last few days and I feel like God is helping me to connect the dots. And, not just me – many of you have too – you who are watching, praying and yearning for the soon return of Jesus. Something has happened, something has changed. But, what is it?

Most of us if we’re completely honest know that there is something drastically wrong. From the advent of the 60’s, we have been on a relentless push to get God out of our lives both publicly and privately. And I must say, we’ve succeeded quite well.  And, while God has been grieved by our actions, he has none the less been patient, long suffering and kind in delaying  judgment so that we might have time to repent and turn back to him. But, I have to tell you that time has passed and there will be no more delay. Judgment is going to be sudden and its going to be swift. No time then for choosing sides. If you are on the Lord’s side declare so now – or forever be silent.

For you who are Christians and waiting for the rapture and the soon return of Jesus – you will understand this. For those of you who do not …. if you’re reading this …. ask God to help you grasp what I am about to say and then make your decision. Keeping in mind – no decision is a decision.

Right now, we have entered a period of time when the fulfillment of Bible prophecy is converging like never before and will indeed never be again. The 7 year tribulation is poised to start and the Church will be taken in to heaven effectively ending the church age. Strangely America does not appear in Bible prophecy with the exception of closely fitting the description of Mystery Babylon, the harlot, who will be completely destroyed.

In Jeremiah chapters 50 and 51, we read a detailed description of God’s sudden, swift and merciless judgment on this harlot nation where he declares that it will be utterly and completely ruined …. never to be inhabited again.

There are many who have come to the conclusion that mystery Babylon is none other than America herself. And after years of study, I would have to agree.  A mystery because this is not Babylon of old, but, a new Babylon that would appear in latter days. A place or nation described as a “cup of gold” in the Lord’s hand because of the incredible favor and blessing  bestowed upon her –  until she shunned the giver of blessings –  choosing instead to replace those same things with greed, debauchery and evil of every kind until there was nothing good left within her.

Last night, the Miss America pageant was held. Established in 1921, the pageant has come to represent the best of America – indeed America herself – as represented in talent, beauty and character. With this in mind, I find it telling that the pageant would choose this particular point in time to make a public apology to Vanessa Williams, who had been asked to resign her crown in 1984 after a series of photos were published by Penthouse Magazine in which she appeared nude.

Whether the photos were published with or without her consent is neither here nor there for if she truly possessed the character of Miss America, then or now, she would have said to the host,  “thank you, but, in all honesty I deserved to lose the crown as the life that I was living at that time is not what I want upheld as the standard for the young women of this country”. Instead, she listened and accepted with glistening eyes as the host heaped on words of praise calling her –

“the Miss America you are ….  and …..  the Miss America, you always will be”.

Interesting, interesting words. A complete opposite to what used to be the standard in once beloved songs like –

“America, America, God shed his grace on thee, and crowned thy good with brotherhood from sea to shining sea”

Are you getting the picture? America, once crowned with goodness – no longer exists or even matters anymore. It’s all just an illusion. We no longer even faintly resemble who we once were.

*Please keep in mind …. I am not pointing a finger at Vanessa herself – but, what happened at the pageant is powerful symbolism of where we are today and why, what is coming – is coming.

Over the course of the summer, we have proven like the most brazen of harlots that we have no shame when it comes to defying God. We have been nationally confronted with the images of mutilated and dead babies, whose parts are being sold off to the highest bidder (yawn) – and while a few people picketed Planned Parenthood not much of a fuss was made.

We have reversed God’s ordained plan for marriage between one man and one woman deciding that we are far too enlightened for archaic sexual mores – not understanding that marriage is itself holy and a living representation of Christ and the church, who is his bride.

And, last but not least – the Iran deal which without God’s intervention ensures the complete annihilation of the Jewish people and the state of Israel. When God said, “I will bless those who bless you and curse those who curse you” …. he wasn’t kidding. We’re going to find that out.

As they say in baseball – three strikes – you’re out!

After the Israelites crossed the Jordan, God commanded them to march around Jericho where they were to shout and blow trumpets …. and when they did as God instructed, the walls fell down allowing them to capture the city  in which all  inhabitants but one were killed – all but a woman named Rahab, a harlot, whose life was spared for helping and blessing the Israelite people as they came in to the land that God had promised them.

At the time of the rapture, the Lord himself will descend with a shout and the blowing of the trumpet, the Shofar. And, like the walls of Jericho – the walls of this life will fall away and the world-wide body of believers both living and dead will be taken in the air to meet Jesus. Yes, the graves will give up their dead as we all rise to meet the Lord.

But, those won’t be the only walls to fall.  No, mystery Babylon will also fall – her many defenses of no effect. This time the harlot will not be spared. For America herself, is that woman. The woman, who refused to help the Jewish people and in fact, aided and abetted their destruction. The harlot who wants life on her terms. Her choice. No interference from God.

It’s quite possible that the destruction of America aka Babylon will take place at the time of the rapture or soon thereafter, in fact, in an act of judgment God will accomplish in one hour what the new world order has been working at for years – furthering the prophetic calendar making way for the antichrist to have full reign over the remaining kingdoms of the world. The judgment of Babylon will facilitate the final battle for which the stage is already being set. Final judgment is at hand.

That being said, the hour glass for Babylon American is down to the last few grains – pay heed to the word of the Lord.

“This is what the Lord Almighty says, Babylon’s thick walls will be leveled and her high gates set on fire, the peoples exhaust themselves for nothing, the nations labor is only fuel for the flames”  Jeremiah 51:58

*For a chilling and comprehensive look at the fate of Babylon read Jeremiah chapters 50, 51 and Revelation chapter 18 – keeping in mind these events may not be entirely chronological.  May be more like a sandwich where you are biting through bread, meat, cheese and lettuce all at one time.

I pray that what I have shared here will be for God’s glory in advance of his soon coming. If you have not yet received his generous offer for forgiveness of sins, the offer to join his family bought and paid for by the blood of Jesus, I urge you to do so now. Don’t assume that you have months, weeks, hours or even minutes to do so. And, if you have heard his word, do not harden your heart – for the end is coming and sooner than you may think.

And, if you are a foreign reader to this blog – although you do not share in the sins of Babylon, you will have little time for deciding your allegiance once the anti-Christ is in place. Don’t wait – I guarantee you – you do not want to be left behind.

A picture is worth a thousand words. And, this one says it all. No dialogue is needed to know that this guy missed the last train out of town. How do we know it was the last train? Who would run yelling and screaming carrying a heavy bag if the next train out of town was due in 15 minutes.

The Kingdom of Heaven is like that. There is an open invitation to all. For the past two thousand years the master (Jesus) has been calling, “All aboard that’s coming aboard”.  And many have heeded that call. They have their tickets bought and paid for by the blood of Jesus and they’ve been ready for departure whenever and however it might  come –  either through death or through the rapture. But, they were ready.

But, like all planes, trains and automobiles (to borrow from a movie title) departure day finally does arrive and sometimes sooner than we think.

This September is unique in history with the many biblical signs that are converging at one time. And, while no one can say exactly what will happen this must is sure: God has always warned his people in advance when something of major Biblical importance is about to happen. And that is what I am sure we are about to see.

How many of you remember where you were when you got the news of 9-11?  Or remember where you were when the Challenger exploded. Or if you live in Hawaii and are very advanced in years remember what Pearl Harbor looked like prior to December 7, 1941.

By human nature, we think that things will never change. That life as we know it will somehow just plug along. But as you can see in the examples above that just isn’t the case.  Even now, we can see that life has changed immensely not just in the last 50 or 20 years, but in the last 10 or even 5. A computer we can hold in our hands and also make phone calls on? You’re kidding me? Unreal. But more importantly, the change in morals and attitudes that have accompanied it. That has been staggering.

Who would have believe the day would come when tiny, unborn babies would be dismembered while still alive in the womb,their parts sold off to the highest bidder? Or, who would have believed that someone could be jailed for simply exercising their religious beliefs? That military chaplains would no longer be able to pray in the name of Jesus. Or clubs meet at school for the purpose of prayer.

Are you aware that animals and fish are dying off in unprecedented numbers? That our seas are dying from Fukushima and all the garbage we’ve polluted it with. That our fresh water supplies are in jeopardy and can be contaminated at a moments notice as the Animas River was. Fires, earthquakes, pestilence, draught and violence that are now completely off the charts and getting worse by the day. And hatred among people groups so deep that the wounds will never be healed.

Friends, this world is not going to get better – it’s going to get worse and very soon. You don’t want to be here. Demons are manifesting in and through our culture with ever intensifying urgency and power. They are fully aware that their time is short and they are very angry. They hate God and they hate the people that God would save. The Bible tells us that they have come to kill, still and destroy and that is what they do.You need only read this by Vigilant Citizen to know that the United States has become the home of every haunt and demon. And, that’s just one example. There are more. Plenty more.

How about the Burning Man expo in the Nevada desert where 70,000 gather to live out the Satanic motto of “do as thou wilt.” And, its not just the U.S. Oh, No.  In Amsterdam, a night club is proposing to spray blood from the ceiling on Halloween so that patrons can dance the night away covered in blood like some scene from the worse horror movie you can imagine. That should be fun. And what would we expect after the Egyptian god of Anubis (the god of death)  passed through our land not too long ago and a statue of Baphomet that was recently erected just as the ten commandments and anything to do with the God of the Bible was being destroyed and mocked.

Jesus made clear that in the last days just prior to his coming the earth would be once again like Sodom and Gomorrah(rampant homosexuality) and like the days of Noah (wickedness and evil of every kind). If that is not the United States and the world today, I don’t know what is.

Friends, this is the final call before God brings judgment on this wicked nation and world.

If you have not yet made Jesus your Savior and Lord, the time is now.

And, be sure ….. for this is so important …. that the Jesus you profess to know is the Jesus of the Bible. Adhering to a false Jesus through man made religion will leave you like the young man in the photo …… bag in hand ….. running for a train that can never be caught.

Yesterday, Kim Davis of Kentucky was jailed for her refusal to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples. Citing an authority that is greater than any sitting judge or judges, she was ultimately penalized for exercising her religious freedom and the order was given to place her in jail.

This is a sad day for the church and all Americans as the religious freedom fought and paid for by our forefathers has been taken hostage by a minority of people who will stop at nothing to advance their agenda.

And, while many in the place of Kim Davis would have given in, she has stood firm in spite personal attacks on her character, mockery and even death threats. Just read the comments following the new stories about this. They will make you sick to your stomach, they are so vile. You would think she was a baby killer …. not someone exercising her right to religious freedom. But, oh that’s right …. if she were a baby killer, she would be a hero working at Planned Parenthood packaging baby parts for shipment while the big checks roll in.

Can’t say we didn’t see this coming. This train has been coming down the tracks for a while and is now full steam ahead. The enemy (the evil one, the devil, Ha Satan) smells blood and thinks he has the church on the run but nothing could be further from the truth. He should know better.

For the martyred church is a strong church!  Not in terms of physical strength but of growing up spiritually and getting our priorities straight. And, if there is anything that will wake up the sleeping Laodicean church it would be this. Start jailing Christians and you will finally see some people getting serious about their faith.  And, as a result, the church will begin to grow exponentially in a way seeker friendly programs could never produce. For its been said, “the blood of the martyrs is the seed of the church” – just ask our brothers and sisters in places like China, they will tell you.

I had originally titled this “Waking up the Church” but realized my mistake and changed it to waking up the American church.. My apologies to all my non-American readers. We tend to be a little myopic in this country. Instead, I would like to ask your prayers for us, the American Church …… as we finally begin to grow up a little.

One more thing … the name Kim means “brave or noble”  …. and, Davis a derivative of David. The mightiest of Israel’s Kings.

Take heart Kim, the Lord is with you and so are we.

“Six days before the Passover, Jesus arrived at Bethany where Lazarus lived, whom Jesus had raised from the dead. Here a dinner was given in Jesus honor. Martha served while Lazarus was among those reclining at the table with him. Then Mary took about a pint of pure nard, an expensive perfume, she poured it out on Jesus feet and wiped his feet with her hair. And the house was filled with the fragrance of perfume …” John 12: 1-3

Finally, September 2015, the month we have been waiting for. With so much on the very near horizon (prophetically speaking) it can become confusing as we seek to know just exactly what Jesus would have us do in these last hours – whether it be the rapture or a time of great shaking as many have suggested.

I’ve been seeking the Lord about this and was impressed by the latest Luis Vega post on Five Doves titled  “Economic and Spiritual Resets” …. if you have not yet read it, you can find it here.  Luis as many of you know is a wonderful researcher and has blessed us over the past few years with his wonderful insight and studies.  The information I’m drawing from is near the end of one of his latest articles and from which I quote:

“As Jesus approached Bethany, Martha rushed to Jesus and basically lectured Jesus about why he couldn’t have stopped the suffering and death of one of his own and that he loved.

It was Mary; in contrast that was waiting on the Lord, in silence, in humility in brokeness for the beloved teacher. This is the typology of the Bride Jesus wants out of his Church and will get at  the last day and hour in His beloved Bride.

The point is that in this place and time in the Church’s history, she has never been more alert and aware of thie pending secret call that is NOT JUST INDIVIDUALLY SENSED, BUT COLLECTIVELY SENSED, perhaps for the first time ever regarding the rapture event.”

If you didn’t catch that, please, read it again. It is so important what God is showing us through the example of these two women Mary and Martha. We’ve all heard the analogies before in countless sermons and Bible studies but look at it again in a new light …. in regard to the last few days before the catching up of the Bride.

I have been thinking, meditating on and praying about Luis observations since I read them on Sunday. And, now that we have crossed over into September it has been weighing heavily on my mind about what the Lord would have me/us to do. I agree that there is a great shaking ahead. Our sin before the Lord has been blatantly exposed over the summer months with the legalization of same sex marriage and the horrors of Planned Parenthood. It should be apparent to anyone who really knows the Lord that he has allowed our complete vile and nakedness before him to be exposed for all to see. We cannot hide our heads in the sand any longer and profess sorry and lame excuses that we didn’t know …. because we did.  And, what is even worse is that there is no real outcry, no sense of shame and worst of all no repentance.  The chickens have come home to roost my friends and there is no longer any delaying it.

That being said, there is still hope and this is what the Lord has shown me. There is no way we can make up for the deaths of 53 million babies. Just like there is no way we can undo the many collective sins that have brought us to this place. It is only by God’s grace and for his glory that he will forgive us and bring an end to this madness. Which he himself will do, I might add.  And for all our imperfections (the bride) – we were bought at a price and we belong to him. He has washed us white as snow and there is nothing in heaven, on earth or below that will change that.

Which brings me back to this – what does the Lord want from us in these last hours?

The internet is replete with suggestions for prepping. And it is far and beyond to suggest what anyone else should do. And, many of us have prepped and that’s fine. But, there comes a time at least in my mind when enough is enough.

Sit down Martha, take a load off ….. just sit and rest at the feet of Jesus!

I was praying this morning and had this on my mind even thinking perhaps, I should get to the stores and stock up on a few more things, I asked the Lord to speak to me, give me his thoughts on things. “Please Lord, guide and direct,” I prayed.  I randomly opened my Bible to read as I often do and to my amazement opened to this passage from Matthew 26- JESUS ANOINTED AT BETHANY.  Wow, there is no doubt in my mind now as to what Jesus wants me and maybe you to do in these next very important days. Just sit at the feet of Jesus. Love on him like Mary did. He is our beloved groom and he is coming for us soon!

Some practical ways do this – and, I am sure you will have other ideas of your own. But, simplify your life. Turn the television and the media off. Spend more time seeking Jesus in his word, through prayer and meditation, Enjoy the beautiful autumn weather with your family. Get outside and enjoy the blessing of the creation. Make restitution for any wrongs, especially make amends with another brother or sister in the Lord if that is needed. Share with others. Make every day and moment count for we may be crossing Jordan soon and when we get to the other side …. I guarantee you, we won’t be looking back

I really think folks as the day approaches, we’re gonna know. And, maybe, just maybe ….. we already do.

“There are six things which the Lord hates: Yes, seven which are an abomination to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, A heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that run rapidly to evil, A false witness who utters lies and one who spreads strife among brothers.”  Proverbs 6:16-19

Hate. It’s a pretty strong word isn’t it?  Especially when you consider that the very nature of God is one of love. Yet, this is what the Bible says. These are the things God hates. How then must he feel when the blood of the most innocent and helpless of all his creation cry out to him day after day? When children in the wombs created to cushion and protect instead become horrific and tortuous chambers of death.

On September 28, the fourth and final blood moon of the 2014/2015 tetrad will appear over Jerusalem. It will also be a Supermoon. An unmistakable warning for those with blood on their hands and those too apathetic to care. And while a blood moon derives its name from the reddish/orange hew of a lunar eclipse, I assure you, there is another reason it’s called a blood moon and it has nothing to do with astronomy.

Yesterday in a town of 45,000 people (much more when you count the surrounding communities and outlying areas) we had 60 adults and a handful of kids and babies turn out to protest the most horrific practices one can imagine by the butchery of PP. Yet, thousands, yes, thousands turned out the same weekend to hear a rock musician hosted by a local church who had recently given his life to Christ –  and while I am not knocking that per se …. you have to admit there is a huge disconnect somewhere and by and large – we just don’t get it.

Well, we may not but, God does and the days of easy believism my friends are all but over.

For next month’s blood moon is a game changer. I guarantee you …..  And, then – maybe then – we will.

I like this sign, it’s short and to the point. Yes, it’s up to you (and me) to do something. And tomorrow is our opportunity to stand in protest against Planned Parenthood and the shocking and vile industry they have made out of killing babies. Sorry, for the bluntness but there is really no other way of putting it. A big thank you to Steve Coerper for putting the information on his homework page at Anakypto Forum regarding the nationwide protest that is scheduled for tomorrow August 22 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. A protest that is scheduled to be as prayerful as it is peaceful, I am hoping.

I will be very interested to see the turnout from the local community here. I am praying that it will be significant. And that the apathy that most of us are guilty of will be changed in the wake of the information that has been made public recently regarding the abhorrent practices of PP. (As if the 53 million abortions and counting were not enough).

Most of all, I am praying that the peace and love of God will permeate the hearts of everyone who takes time to attend including those who attend in opposition. And, that in my opinion starts first with the house of God. For without changes in our own hearts and humble repentance on our part it is doubtful that a gathering like this will be anything more than a chance to gather together, talk story and share sunblock.  But, I’m hoping and praying that it will be so much more.

On the upside, there are already some wonderful places that are working tirelessly to make a difference in these numbers. I’m thinking of our own GracePlace here in Farmington and A Place for Women in Waipio, Hawaii where I lived before. And,  there are hundreds more like them across the country. Places where women in crisis can find help, emotionally, spiritually and financially with resources available to help in every conceivable way.

Abortions promise freedom but deliver death.

But out of love comes light and life.

And it is God who is the source of all light, love and life.

With this in mind, I pray that the faces of all who attend tomorrows gatherings will shine with radiant light; the radiant light of the Son in the same way the face of Moses did after he had been with God. For It’s a compelling thing to see – the light, and love of God in the faces of his people. And, I pray that somehow by the grace of God that same love will be transferred to those around us who are so desperately in need of it. And, may we always choose life!

It’s been hot here in New Mexico. And yesterday, I ventured out midday to the annual county fair to see the prize-winning pickles, pies, arts, crafts and livestock of my fellow New Mexicans; San Juan County specifically. It was easy to see how much time work and preparation had gone into each entry. It’s an end of summer kind of thing that Americans all over the country enjoy with carnival style rides for the kids, cotton candy and one of my all time favorites – roasted corn on the cob.

But, that was yesterday August 15. Today (August 16)  begins a new month (on the Hebrew calendar that is) the month of Elul. It’s a very special month that speaks specifically of “harvest”. In fact, that is what Elul means – harvest. It’s the twelfth month on the Jewish civil calendar and the sixth month on the Jewish religious calendar leading up to the end of the Hebrew year 5775.

There are a lot of things interesting about the month of Elul. And one of the things I find most fascinating is from some information I found at Servant of Messiah Ministries.

In an article titled, August: Repentance Month, they point out the significance of the positioning of this sixth month (Elul) between the 4th and 5th months (Tammuz and Av)–  and the 7th month, the month of Tishri.

The 4th and 5th months are months marked by the sin of the golden calf (idolatry) and the 12 spies who gave a bad report and the 7th month, the month of Tishri, the month of judgment.

That leaves the sixth month, (the month of Elul) in between and there is a reason for that.  For the month of Elul is a very special time for preparation for what is ahead and for getting right with God. And to mark this very important month, the Shofar, the rams horn is sounded to serve as a wake up call to all sleepers to wake–up and be ready for the time for harvest (judgment) is come.

Next month as many of you know there will be a convergence of signs as related to Bible prophecy not previously seen at any other time in history. The biggest of which is the fourth and final blood moon ( a super moon, none the less) which appears over Jerusalem on September 28. And, if you don’t know much about that or would like to know more, I would encourage you to take some time to research. The internet is loaded with information on the subject right now with Christians and Jews all around the world watching closely at the many events converging next month.  Mark Biltz, Rabbi Jonathan Cahn and Paul Grevas are three who have done some excellent work in this area and will get you up to speed.

Signs, Signs, Every Where Signs –

Not a biblical sign per se, but, I have been watching with interest the contamination of the Animas River here where I live. On August 5, a variety of heavy metals from the long defunct Gold King Mining operation flooded into the Animas River turning its normally clear waters a brackish shade of yellow/orange. And, while the waters have now cleared up (at least on the surface) there are reports that in addition to the massive contamination of August 5 there are also some 230 old mines in the area which have been leaking heavy metals in to this river and others for years with a reported 40 percent of river headwaters in the West affected by it. Wow!  And no one is monitoring the situation or doing anything about it. Well, given the mining history of the area, its actually no surprise – but, what I do find interesting is this:

The mine: The Gold King Mine

The river: The Animas (Spanish for spirit, soul – our English word animated would be a derivative of it).

The river down stream that it flowed in to likewise contaminating: The San Juan (Spanish for St. John – as in St. John, the apostle and writer of the book of Revelation).

Do you see a picture emerging? Gold, money, wealth, the things of this world polluting and contaminating the spirit to the point of rendering them useless and unfit as far as God’s kingdom is concerned. For the Bible tells us, one cannot serve both God and money. Hmmmm …..

People, the world is in serious trouble – and outside of Jesus there is no way out. The chickens have come home to roost, you might say. The weight of sin on creation, the weight of sin in our lives has reached a crushing level and things cannot and will not continue the way that they have been. Without the intervention of Almighty God, the Bible says that no flesh would survive what is now directly ahead.

Just look around. Massive animal die offs. Fish in the Pacific also dying and grotesquely deformed – think Fukushima. Isis, terror and brutality at an almost unthinkable level. The very real threat of global nuclear war, financial collapse, earthquakes, volcanoes, famines and racial strife. There is no place and no peoples on earth that will not be affected by what is ahead. The clock is ticking and the time to prepare is NOW!

Therefore friends, I encourage you to draw close to him who has the power over your soul. He loves you and has provided the month of Elul as a symbol of the gap between sin and judgment that is bridged only by his grace. If you have never trusted Jesus as your Lord and Savior you can do that now. If you’re not sure how to do that send me a message and I will pray with you and help you in this very important decision.

“As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the son of man. For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking,  marrying and giving in marriage until the flood came and took them all away.”  Matthew 24: 37-39

Mark this day on your calendars – and mourn – for it is a day from which there is no turning back.

It can be no coincidence that the landmark decision to approve same-sex marriage in all 50 states was publicly announced on June 26, the 9th of Tammuz.  The millennia old Judeo-Christian concept of marriage between one man and one woman giving away to the collective “wisdom” of 5 individuals – who call themselves supreme. In one day, the bedrock of society, the family structure as set apart by God and nature has been swept away. And, the repercussions couldn’t be bigger.

Why is the date of Tammuz 9 important?

On Tammuz 9, 423 BC, Nebuchadnezzar’s troops breached the walls of old Jerusalem and entered the city. Four weeks later on Av 9,  the Holy temple was destroyed and the Jews were exiled to Babylon. Likewise, in 70 AD, the walls of Jerusalem were breached not on Tammuz 9 but eight days later on Tammuz 17 and the second temple was destroyed once again on Av 9 – the same date as the first..

Keep these dates in mind for they are critical to the timing of what may be ahead.

If you follow Bible prophecy at all, you are probably aware that the United States (and, the world for that matter) have been courting God’s judgment for some time. And, many of us have wondered how much longer the Lord would stay his hand before bringing about the justice and judgment that we so much deserve. Well, we need wonder no longer – that day has arrived. Like dominoes set to fall – Tammuz 9 is the first in line to go. Which is fitting as 9 in the Bible is the number of completeness or finality.

What’s the big deal some would say?  Does God really care that much about marriage? Of all the evils that occur in the world, why would marriage between two men or two women be the final straw to draw the wrath of the Almighty?

Well, there are a lot of reasons – one of which, may be demonstrated in the very near future in a very painful way. For Tammuz 17 is also, the American fourth of July this year. And this can be no accident. For besides being the day of the breach of the walls of Jerusalem 70 AD, Tammuz 17 is also the day Moses descended the mountain (Mt. Sinai) to find the people sinning by worshiping the golden calf – a symbol of the life they had left behind in Egypt.

God had brought them out to a life of freedom but, they desired to go back to a life of slavery, where they had leeks and onions to eat – the side benefit to living next to those who lived in luxury even if it meant being a slave. So, what did Moses do when he saw the people sinning like this?  In anger, he threw the tablets of the law – written by the finger of the Almighty himself – to the ground  – smashing them in to pieces. Which was wrong for God’s law must always be upheld!

This is exactly what America is doing. We have been blessed from the foundation of this country with freedom – but, the freedom we have enjoyed is now despised and a freedom of another kind is desired. We no longer want freedom by God, we want freedom from God. For many see the ten commandments as a wall of restriction when they are in fact, intended as a wall of protection. And America in the last few years has been in the process of methodically striking down the ten commandments  and God’s law from every area of life – particularly, the public arena.

“We have no King but Caesar” they say. “The government is our King. It is the government who establishes ( or takes) away our rights at their discretion. Not God.”   Smash!

With this we have successfully made clear to the creator that we will not be bound or owned by him. In our rebellion and our ignorance we fail to understand that in so doing we have exchanged freedom for slavery – the reality of which will not be realized until it is too late. So, in essence its not just marriage – it is in fact, a final form of rebellion.

I think it is entirely possible that some wall of national security was breached today – Tammuz 9. With reports of Isis just over our very porous southern border this is far more likely than it is far-fetched. And, on Tammuz 17 (July 4) while the nation is reveling in its new freedom from the bonds of traditional marriage – while people are eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage –  we may well feel the pain of that breach in ways we may have never once thought possible – until 9/11.

But, for some reason it was a lesson never learned.

Like Psalm 2, the kings and rulers of the earth have gathered together against the Lord, and against his Anointed One, (Jesus) saying –

“Let us break their chains and throw off their fetters“.

To which the One enthroned in heaven laughs, the Lord scoffs at them – and, rebukes them in his anger.

And, you know sometimes, you really don’t want what you asked for. Something we’re about to find out the hard way.

I spent a lazy afternoon today browsing through an antique store in the small country town of Bayfield, CO. It was the kind of summer day you remember from your childhood – warm and slightly hazy, clouds flying high over head like pennants blowing in the wind. It’s interesting looking through stores like these …. kind of like going back in time. There were tons of old photos. Men, women and children frozen in somber expressions belying the excitement they were probably feeling at having their photos taken – a novelty at the time. Kitchen ware and gadgets that remind me why I am glad I was not born a century ago. And, beautifully carved furniture – hardwood – meant to last longer, a whole lot longer than the people who bought them.

I went outside for a while and sat in a rocker while my friends were still inside looking. And, I thought this is what contentment feels like. There was a large steamer trunk which made me think of those who made the voyage to this great country to start new lives. A old enamel cooking stove of the kind my grandmother used when I was a kid, the kind that burns coal or wood and makes the best biscuits you ever tasted. An old hand crank ice cream freezer, a horses bridle and an American flag. This and more sharing the porch with me on this beautiful yet ordinary day.

It was a different time and place back then. A hard time, but a better time in many ways. Hard in the sense of survival – you either made it or you didn’t – but, easier in the sense of knowing and understanding the most basic elements of life. For some reason, the modern life that we are living today has imparted a sense of confusion to a whole lot of people. Confusion over gender, sexual and racial identity and more. Questions that a thousand generations before us were simply answered at birth. How strange that at this point in human history things that were previously taken for granted have suddenly become unclear.

Not so in the natural world  – for I never saw a daisy in distress because it wasn’t born a rose. Or a buck standing in the forest who thought he was a doe. The Bible makes it very clear that God created each species to reproduce after its own kind – and, this is what we see in nature – and the Universe, a natural and harmonious order – no stress, no confusion. So, why of all species do we struggle with these issues?  And for a culture bent on obsession with this – if you’re not struggling now – you will!  For “they” won’t be satisfied until everyone questions something about themselves – or is at least in wholehearted endorsement of those who do.

It’s sad to think that there are those who genuinely struggle with these issues today. A number by the way far fewer than they would have us believe, I might add.  But, we aren’t plants and we aren’t animals and the threads that contribute to our mental make-up are complex and many.  But, what is more tragic than this is the leap to conclusion that the best way to deal with these issues is to give ones self over to it. In other words, what ever you think you are – you are! Go for it!  But if this were true, we would see, I believe a dramatic reduction in suicides, depression, alcohol and drug addiction. But, it simply isn’t true – we won’t – and these numbers will unfortunately go up, not down.  And those who sought healing will find they have been sold a bill of goods.

I think of Jesus and how he was trained in the skills of a carpenter. A carpenter understands the framework of his project from the inside out. With loving skill he takes up the wood. He holds it in his hands. He weighs it, he feels it, he examines its grain. He draws from his imagination and determines from his experience and wisdom just what it could be and what it is worth.  I ask you then, my friends – who better then to heal the splintered fragments of our lives?

What we think is impossible is always possible with God …. and,

Jesus is the answer, he is always, the answer,
