Failure to Obey

Image result for muslims in europe

“God blessed them (male and female) and said to them, be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it …” Genesis 1:28

As the photo above depicts, Europe is in a crisis. The number of Muslim immigrants saturating and overwhelming the culture at an alarming rate. The United States bracing for the same. According to this report by Breitbart dated July 16, 2015 –

” the United States admits roughly 100,000 Muslim immigrants legally each year”. …..  A number according to Pew Research that will double over the next two decades from 2.6 million in 2010 to 6.2 million in 2030.”

And while that number compared to the current population of over 318 million (according to census 2014) seems relatively small, it is nonetheless alarming.

Couple that with the shift away from Judaic/Christian values and we can easily see why Europe and the United States is in the mess that it is. And one of those reasons is failure to keep God’s first and most basic commandment.

Be fruitful and multiply ….

and the way things are looking failure to do so will not be without a cost.

In the days before the sexual revolution and the championing of Women’s rights families were big. My dad was number 8 out of 10 children which at that time was common. And while most of those families were large by default ( no way of preventing pregnancy except by abstinence), they were nonetheless, keeping the first commandment to be fruitful and multiply for according to the Bible, it is God, who by his choice opens or closes the womb.

But in the days since the turbulent 60’s everything has changed and most families (if they have children at all) limit themselves to 2 children. In America, as it is in Europe, these low birthrates along with the scourge of abortion means that we are barely even replacing our selves, if that. Throw in gay marriage which is non child producing and we can see that the demographics are set to shift dramatically …. a fact, that as mentioned above is going to cost us dearly. For Muslim families are by design large. Just do the math –  for unless these numbers change (and at this point it is probably too late) – the demise of western culture is a foregone conclusion.

If Christians had not bought in to the present cultural propaganda of limiting family size, perhaps, we would not be in the trouble we are today. If Christians had continued to have large families, the American culture might have stood a chance at stabilizing itself. For every Christian child that was never born is one less child growing to adult hood who by virtue of their very presence would have provided pushed back against the cultural war which has been waged against Christians and family values since the 1960’s.

I have to give my daughter (Seven Stars) the credit for opening my eyes to this. I myself had only two children by choice. My husband and I believing at the time (mid-70’s) that all we could most likely afford was two children. Not realizing that this kind of thinking is contrary to God’s word for it is completely faithless. For if God chooses to open the womb will he not also provide?

We (Christians) have unwittingly bought in to the anti-God propaganda that has been flooding the culture for the last 50 years.. With the advent of things such as birth control and easy access of the same, we have chosen (by limiting family size) economic gain over the scriptural mandate to go forth and multiply. I see nothing in the scripture that tells us to do otherwise – to down size families as a way of ensuring there is bread on our table.

If this sounds counter to conventional secular wisdom it is – but, we trust God and his word – for it is and always will be contrary to what this world would have us believe. The world said, the lame will never walk again, but God said otherwise, the world said, the blind will never see again, but God said, otherwise. The world said, the dead will never live again but, God said otherwise and Jesus lives today. This is the basis of our faith. What is impossible with man is always possible with God and if he chooses to open the womb in response to his own command to “go forth and multiply” we believe, (or should believe) by his word that he will provide.

As we approach increasingly difficult days ahead, I think that we will see that failure to obey has probably as much as anything contributed to the circumstances we find ourselves in today.  And before we go and blame anything and everyone else including the crazy, decadent and increasingly immoral culture that surrounds us, we must first look at ourselves.

Do we really believe the Bible is the inerrant word of God? Do we really trust God and by so doing exercise what we believe by faith? if so, what excuse do we have for not doing it?  Seems to me that the finger we point at others should be pointed back at ourselves. For if we are truly honest, we pick and choose out of the Bible how and what we will believe and practice as much as anyone else. And that my friends is to our disgrace and shame.

Halloween – not just for children anymore

Image result for jack o lantern

It’s that time of year again. Costumes for kids, bobbing for apples and wide-eyed children at our doors in search of a sugar high. Yes, Halloween is here again and its popularity in American culture is truly something to behold. When I grew up it was by and large for children – elementary age children and younger. But, over the past few years its easy to see that Halloween is not just for children anymore. In fact, more and more adults are getting in on the “fun” in a big way.

I was out walking my neighborhood this afternoon and the number of houses decorated for Halloween was truly amazing. Movie sets should be so elaborate! Full scale animated creatures, mock cemeteries and other gruesome and spooky scenes of one kind or another adorning the doorways and lawns of the otherwise pleasant and normal looking homes. One home boasted a plastic bag full of bloody body parts hanging from a hook – mock body parts, I will assume – severed head, feet and limbs hanging on display as a trio of skeletons cooley looked on – happy, I suppose that they at least had all their parts. “That’s ok kids, don’t mind the body parts”  – “trick or treat”.

It seems to me that America has developed not just a love for but a lust for anything dark. And as adults get in on the act the themes become darker, more malevolent in nature and increasingly lewd. Just attend any large Halloween gathering in any major city and you will see what I mean.

Many contend that its all in fun. Not to be taken seriously. Maybe its even humanity’s way of thumbing its nose at death and the innate fear we seem to all have of things that go bump in the night. And on the surface that may seem a plausible argument. But, I would contend that if we truly think that  – then, the trick really is on us.

Think about this:

Death:  Halloween seems to mock death. To make light of it. To flaunt and even flirt with it. An effort I believe to counter what the Bible says about death. The Bible says that death has a sting. But, Halloween makes the fear of death seem silly

“Graves – not afraid. I have one in my front yard –  RIP”.  “Skeletons, no big deal. A little on the thin side but, see I have all my teeth and can still smile”.

But in spite of this, the reality is that death does have a sting. The sting of death is sin because it separates us from those we love but more importantly, it separates us from God.  But because of Jesus, the sting of death (sin) is taken away. Therefore, any attempt to make death less than it is becomes a mockery of what Jesus did by giving up his life on the cross in order to conquer death. It cheapens it.

Ghosts, ghouls and vampires: Whether it’s a sheet, a mask or a black cloak and fangs, what these costumes do is put a face or a figure to what is invisible and from the supernatural realmSomething many in theory say they do not believe in – but believe in or not – these demonic spirits exist and are constantly looking for an open door; an opportunity to influence behavior and thought. And Halloween provides an excellent opportunity for that.

Historically: Halloween without a doubt is rooted in paganism which originated with the Celts who went house to house impersonating spirits and threatening to do mischief unless given food – trick or treat!  Therefore even costumes which are cute and innocent looking as “Bambi in the forest” are as pagan as “red tails and horns” for pretending to be something or someone you are not – to mask your identity –  is something demonic spirits are proficient at – masking who they are in order to get something that they want.

Therefore let me say this. Anything pagan has no place in the Christian life or household. By grace we are saved from sin – which, does not mean that God looks anymore favorably on pagan practices and idolatry now than he did then. Therefore grace does not give us license to practice behavior contrary to God’s spirit and character as if God has some how now become our big sugar daddy in the sky allowing any and all behavior because it is “fun”. God is still holy. And he is due all the honor of a sanctified life from all of us who claim his name.

Yet, many Christians continue to participate in the pagan practice of Halloween or skirt the issue by providing “Christian alternatives”.

I know there is a strong draw to participate in what is considered by many to be a rite of passage for children in America these days and I am sympathetic to the position that it puts parents in. There was a time when I myself thought it was pretty harmless. In fact, my youngest daughter would come home from Halloween trick or treating with a bag so full of treats only Santa at Christmas had a bigger bag! And I was one of the first to search that bag for all the chocolate I could find.  But, since that time, I have watched Halloween morph into something much different than it used to be. And why wouldn’t it –  for the paganism, we cut our teeth on then, has demanded its full due now. And, if you don’t think Halloween has changed since you were a kid go out and take a look at your neighborhood – you might be surprised at what you see.

In closing, I would say this. Over the past few years I have changed my mind about Halloween. I no longer view it as innocent fun.  For behind it, is a power that is doing everything within its strength to drag you, your children and your family to hell.

Therefore, if you belong to Jesus, if he is your Savior and King, if you are awaiting a kingdom that is not of this world. Please consider taking Halloween off of your holiday list, if you have not done so already.

For in my opinion, Halloween is not just for kids anymore – its not for anyone.

What Does The Bible Say? Part 2

Image result for light in space

WHO IS GOD?

“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge. They have no speech, they use no words; no sound is heard from them. Yet their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world…” Psalm 19:1-4

Whether one is a firm believer in God, an agnostic, who questions the existence of God or an atheist who simply believes that there is no God. One thing is certain – God is a hot topic for conversation these days.

There was a time when God was an accepted part of the public arena. But, it seems now that God has been put on notice – he is no longer welcome.  And for those who deny or question his existence, it’s good riddance anyway, for God, at least the God of the Bible (in their opinion) is something of a spoil sport, a cosmic bully, and an egomaniac, who insists on having things done his way all of the time – or else!

And for those of us who profess a belief in God, the answer for who God is can be as varied as the person who is asked.  For some, he is an impersonal force; a cosmic consciousness that just is. For others, as some religions teach, he was once a man who after death has been exalted to godhood and is now ruling over his own personal planet with myriads of other Gods who also once were men.

Others see him as a kindly grandfather whose sole purpose for existing is to grant us all the good things in life that we want – a cosmic Santa Claus, you might say -and for others, he is an inept old man emotionally detached from his creation –   unable or unwilling to intervene in the plight of those he created – even in their darkest hour.

But, which is it?  They can’t all be true.  And most importantly of all – if our faith is sincere does it really matter what we believe? Isn’t the sincerity of our faith enough – even if found to be wrong?

FIRST THINGS FIRST

Establishing the existence of God

To establish the existence of God one need look no further than the heavens above, the creation beneath our feet or the “not so minor” miracle of our own bodies. To assume, the intricate mechanism by which any of these three operate originated from out of nothingness and without benefit of intelligent design is ( no, not the height of stupidity but, rather) a stubborn unwillingness to see.

For as the verse from Psalms (at beginning of this post) states, the existence of God has been made equally plain for all to see by the creation itself; no speech or language necessary. That’s how apparent it is! Therefore, those who deny the obvious are deliberately doing so just as it says in 2 Peter 3:5 –

“But they deliberately forget that long ago by God’s word the heavens came in to being and the earth was formed out of water and by water”.

GOD – WHO HE IS

The Bible unequivocally states that there is one God and only one. No, there is not a plethora of Gods operating throughout the universe. That is the pagan idea of polytheism and is not Biblical in any way, shape or form. The Bible states in multiple verses that there is one God and one alone.

“For you alone are great and do marvelous deeds, you alone are God”.  Psalm 86:10

ETERNAL –

God has always existed without beginning or end. He has no mother, no father, no creator. He is the great “I am” of the universe; self-existent and eternal. He simply is.

“From everlasting to everlasting you are God” Deuteronomy 33:27

SPIRIT –

God is Spirit. He is not a created being and he was never a man.

“God is not a man that he should lie, neither the son of man that he should repent  … ” Numbers 23:19

“God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship  him in spirit and in truth”  John 4:24

OMNIPRESENT AND ALL KNOWING –

God is everywhere at all times and knows everything including the end from the beginning. But, he is not (as new age teaching would have us believe) present in created things. No, God is not present in a rock, the ocean, a tall tree or any other created thing. Rather God, the creator stands apart from his creation. And there is no where we can go that he is not.

“Where can I go from your Spirit? Or where can I flee from your presence? If I ascend in to heaven, you are there; if I make my bed in hell, behold, you are there; if I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there your hand shall lead me. If I say, ‘surely the darkness will hide me and the night around me’, even the darkness will not be dark to you, the night will shine like the day for darkness is as light to you”.  Psalm 139: 7-12

HOLY –

The Bible tells us that God is “holy” – divine, sacred, set apart from creation and full of glory.

“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty who was and is and is to come” Revelation 4:8

LOVE –

The fact that we have the ability to love comes from God himself for God is love.

“Whoever does not love does not know God for God is love” 1 John 4:8

KING AND RIGHHTEOUS JUDGE –

As King over all creation and by virtue of his holiness, God, also serves as righteous judge.

“And the heavens declare his righteousness, for God himself is judge.”  Psalm 50:6

*It is impossible to describe who God is in one short post; in fact, I have barely scratched the surface and I realize that.  I do hope though that it will have provided the catalyst for those who profess a faith in God to ensure that the God they have placed their faith in is the God of the Bible and not some other.

**For further study on the attributes of God, I suggest this short post.

***The tri-une nature of God to be discussed in a forthcoming post.

HEAVEN BOUND

Image result for HEAVEN

Sometimes, it’s just time for a change. And since I am no longer technically “by the sea”, I thought it might be time for just that – a change to the name of my blog. To be honest, when I started this blog a few years back, I really could not imagine many more readers than my children, my mom and a couple of other friends. But, thanks to all of you, it has become much more than I had anticipated and I want you to know that I appreciate each and everyone of you who take time out of your busy day to stop by.

But a new name. That was a tough one. I wanted one that would describe not only me but my readers also. For this blog, if anything is a joint venture. The comments section (your opportunity to speak) as important to me as anything I might write. I know when I read other blogs that I learn from the comments section as much as I do from the original blog itself. Therefore after thinking it over, I settled on the new name of “Heaven Bound” for its application to not only me but all of you who are sharing with me in this marvelous journey by faith in Jesus Christ.

It’s interesting when you think about it. Most people, if ask would consider themselves “heaven bound“.  In other words, we all understand that our time on earth is finite – an expiration date sometime in the future for all of us. And when this physical life ends most would agree that our spirit departs the physical body and moves on to another place or another dimension (as some would describe it). But herein lies the confusion, while we are all eternity bound, we are not all heaven bound. And there is a difference. A very important difference.

You see, most people assume that if they are somewhat decent folk – no better or no worse perhaps than the next guy that heaven is in their future. That in the grand scheme of things, when the scales are weighed they will come out on the ok side. But, they couldn’t be more wrong. For heaven does not work like that at all.

The problem is we are all sinners. Yep, that old fashioned word called sin. We were born into it and continue to practice it every day.  And until that sin problem is taken care of it is an absolute impossibility for any one of us to ever share in the blessed presence of God.

And if you think you don’t sin you are only deceiving yourself for a little thing called conscience convicts us every day whether we read the Bible or not. So, when we do reach eternity (as we all will) and the scales are weighed –  with even one sin to our side of the scale, it will never weigh in our favor. And the “good” we do  – no matter how much -can never outweigh it. It is an impossibility – for sin can never dwell in the presence of the Father.

But thank God. Jesus did for us what we could never do for ourselves. He paid the price for our sin – giving his life, so that when we enter eternity the scales will always weigh favorably on our account. That is why the Bible says this:

“God made him (Jesus)  who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” 2 Corinthians 5:21

Friends, there is no other way to heaven but by Jesus  If you think that all paths lead to the same place, they don’t – at least not to heaven. So, if you have put your trust in any other person (religious or otherwise), thing or prescribed way of living (even churches and/or world religions), you are sadly mistaken for its not by any of those things that we are saved.

And while some may see this as exclusive – it is actually inclusive as it is an invitation which is open to all. Rich, poor, slave, free, black, white, young and old  – for God is no respecter of persons. As long as we have breath the invitation is equally open to each one of us.

I hope if you are reading this today that you have already made that decision. That you are not just eternity bound but heaven bound. That you have accepted God’s gracious invitation for forgiveness of sin, that you have made a conscious decision to turn from your sin and have made a commitment to follow Jesus wherever you may go.

For to be anywhere else is to be separated from God permanently and that is not a place that God wants you to be. In fact, he has done everything possible (with the exception of making the decision for you) to ensure that that is not the case. And because of his great love wants you (more than anyone else) to be – not just eternity bound but, heaven bound. And, because of his great love, so do I.

“Pray for the peace of Jerusalem they shall prosper who love thee” Psalm 122:6

Blood Moons – Post Analysis – Part 2

Image result for jerusalem violence october 2015  Violence and unrest in Jerusalem

In the early morning hours of September 28 residents of Jerusalem came out from the restful confines of the homes (or Sukkah’s) in which they had been sleeping in order to view the blood moon which appeared directly over their city that night.  And, this was not just any blood moon, as you will remember but, a supermoon, – the last of the much-anticipated  2014/2015 tetrad which appeared above them in the sky that night. The moon appearing 12-14% larger than normal as if providing additional emphasis to the importance of this particular series of celestial events.

A Sukkah as discussed in my last post is a “booth”  or temporary dwelling which Jews are required to live in during the feast of Tabernacles. The purpose of the Sukkah is to serve as a reminder of how God provided for the Israelites after bringing them out of Egypt. A Sukkah therefore is a place of rest. So, if it was God’s intention to call them out from the Sukkah the night of September 28 in order to view the fourth and final blood moon it can only mean one thing – the opposite of rest – which is unrest.

And, this has indeed been the case as the blood moon had no sooner than passed when Jerusalem began to see an exponential rise in violence; evidence in my opinion that Israel has indeed entered a period of unrest which will not be resolved until the prince of peace himself (Jesus) returns. Which is not to say that they won’t experience a brief period of peace when the anti-Christ is revealed.

Many were expecting the rapture this past feast of Trumpets leaving many disappointed and scratching their heads wondering just exactly where we are on God’s prophetic calendar. And, I will say it again as I did in my last post- where we are of course is right on schedule. Which in my humble opinion is the of the opening of the sixth seal. And here’s why:

The Fourth and Fifth Seals

“When the Lamb opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature say, Come!’ I looked and there before me was a pale horse. Its rider was named Death, and Hades was following close behind him. They were given power over a fourth of the earth to kill by sword, famine and plague and by the wild beasts of the earth” Revelation 6:8

After looking at this verse closely, I feel sure that we are seeing the events of the fourth seal in effect at this very time. For who do we know that is presently killing with the sword? Ruthlessly beheading people – Isis. Who is dominating and causing terror across roughly a quarter of the earth?  Isis (and by extension Islamic terrorists). Who is causing famine and hunger with the displacement of vast amounts of people?  Isis. And, who but Isis could be described as wild beasts of the earth? For the Greek word for beast is therion which besides meaning a wild animal can also be rendered (according to Strong’s Concordance) as a “brutal” man – savage, bestial, and ferocious in nature. Which given the extreme brutality demonstrated equally against men, women and children makes perfect sense – hence the opening of the fifth seal.

“When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain because of the word of God and the testimony they had maintained. They called out in a loud voice, ‘ How long, Sovereign Lord Holy and True until you judge the inhabitants of the earth and avenge our blood?’ Then each one of them was given a white robe and they were told to wait a little longer until the number of their fellow servants and brothers who were to be killed as they had been was completed.” Revelation 6: 9-11

Yes, we may well be waiting for the opening of the sixth seal. And unlike the fourth seal which seems confined at least for this moment in time to a quarter of the earth – the sixth seal will affect the entire globe with an earthquake so massive, so severe that every mountain and island will be removed (moved, set in motion, shaken) from its place. An event so powerful that men cry out to be hidden from the wrath of the Lord. A earthquake so massive that only a cosmic disturbance such as a  Planet X type of event could cause destruction on this kind of scale. And that’s just the beginning.

In closing, I would like to draw your attention to the new name I have selected for my blog (Heaven Bound). You will still be able to find me by typing in “Cindy by the sea” but, since I am no longer technically “by the sea” – I thought it might be time for a name change hence the new title. God willing, I will be posting more on this sometime in the near future (details regarding name change and a little bit more about me) but, until then, as always –

Blood Moons – Post Analysis – Part 1

Image result for blood moons

It’s been about two weeks since the much-anticipated fourth and final blood moon of the 2014-2015 tetrad. And, while the rapture did not take place as many had hoped for on the Feast of Trumpets this year, it is apparent (to me) that we are indeed right on schedule with God’s prophetic plan, so, therefore brethren, we should not lose heart.

First of all, there is simply no way that the blood moons with the solar eclipse at the center were coincidence. Anyone who understands God’s prophetic calendar and the supreme importance of Leviticus 23 could not help but  know that these celestial signs were anything less than divinely appointed.

Looking at previous patterns, it is obvious that the tetrads have pointed to or served as celestial indicators of significant events in the history of the Jewish nation. The tetrad of 1492 centered around the Spanish inquisition and the expulsion of the Jews from Spain. The same year Columbus set sail for the America’s which would in time provide a safe haven for the worlds persecuted Jews. The 1948 tetrad heralded the formation of the state of Israel. And the 1967 tetrad saw Jerusalem restored as the capital of Israel. Therefore, this past tetrad, the tetrad of all tetrads, God’s supersign, as some have called it, is obviously indicative of something very big in the very near future for the state of Israel. The question is – what might it be?

I’ve been giving this some thought over the past few days and I think I have discovered a clue.  As you will recall, in Leviticus 23, the Israelites are commanded to dwell in booths for 7 days during the feast of Tabernacles. A booth or a Sukkah as it is known in Hebrew is a temporary dwelling constructed outside ones home to remind the Israelite people of how God provided for them in the wilderness while en route to the promised land after leaving Egypt.

“You shall live in booths for seven days; all the native-born in Israel shall live in booths, so that your generations may know that I had the sons of Israel live in booths when I brought them out for the land of Egypt. I am the Lord your God.” Leviticus 23:42–43

What is striking about this last blood moon is that it appeared between 3 a.m. and 5 a.m. over Jerusalem on the Feast of Tabernacles. In order for those living in Israel to view it, they had to “come out” of their Sukkah’s in order to see it. A Sukkah has no windows, is generally 3 or 4 sided with a thatched roof of palm branches. Therefore it would have been impossible to view it without leaving the Sukkah …. they had to come out.

Now this is interesting because we would have to ask our selves why would God set this up so that they would have to leave the Sukkah in order to see it. Once we understand this it all falls in to place and provides an important clue to the time frame which we are now in. In order to do this we must first look at what the Sukkah represents.

As previously mentioned a Sukkah is a temporary dwelling places and is generally decorated abundantly with all kinds of fruits as a reminder that it is God who provides all that we need. Just as he provided for the Israelites during the wilderness journey.  It is also serves to reminds us that this world is not our home, but a temporary dwelling place until we reach our real home which (for the believer) is in heaven. So, that being said – and God knowing this – for he commanded it – we must ask ourselves –

Why on September 28, 2015  were the Jewish people drawn from the shelter of the Sukkah in order to view this last and most important sign – a blood moon, a supermoon directly over Jerusalem?

A question which in my opinion should give us some pause for thought as the implications could be huge.

….. to be continued

Visiting the Islands

Image result for hibiscus flower

Dear friends,  Just a note to let you know that I will be away for about two weeks. You can look back for me here at Cindy by the Sea sometime after October 7.  September continues to be an exciting month prophetically speaking and there is still much to come with the remaining blood moon on Sept. 28. The lunar eclipse as I understand it will not be visible from the islands. Apparently, it will already be totally eclipsed before moonrise in that part of the Pacific. I will be watching though and praying with all of you regarding this last and most miraculous sign.

Without a doubt, the tetrads (and this one in particular) are indicative of something big on God’s prophetic program. If not this month, then certainly before the end of the coming year. Without a doubt, I think we can safely say – big changes are in store. And, in spite of the bad press that Rabbi Cahn has been receiving lately (from some), I still believe he is right – a big shaking is coming. Therefore, may we remain diligent in our watching and always ready for whatever the Lord has for us in the coming days.

And, as always,

“Pray for the peace of Jerusalem they shall prosper who love thee” Psalm 122:6

Watching and waiting with YOU for the soon return of Jesus, King Messiah, our Lord and Savior!

A Message From Down Under

Image result for writing a letter

Stephen McAlpine of Australia is fast becoming one of my favorite bloggers. His clear-eyed perspective and down to earth writing style is as refreshing as it is thought-provoking and insightful. Today’s post titled Christians: Stop Looking for asmall s” Saviour  was so good that I immediately wanted to share it with all of you here.

It’s a message, I believe that all we can all benefit from especially in light of the pending elections and the political situation we find ourselves in today. If there was ever a time when a clear eyed perspective was needed, its now.

Thank you Stephen for your most excellent article.  And, friends of Cindy by the Sea, thank you for reading, I know you will be blessed!  Cindy
