Without Remedy – *** Updated July 31, 2021

Installing the beam signed by Barack Obama One World Trade Tower Thursday August 2, 2012

“But they continually mocked the messengers of God, despised his words and scoffed at His prophets, until the wrath of the LORD arose against his people, until there was no remedy.” 2 Chronicles 36:16

In the photo above workers can be seen installing the beam signed by then President Barak Obama, his wife Michelle and other New York dignitaries including Governor Andrew Cuomo, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie and New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

The words signed in red ink in the Presidents own hand read as noted below:

untitled

Eight words and three affirmations of we. We remember. We rebuild. We come back stronger. We assume that we know who he is speaking of when he says “we” – but do we really? Remember …. rebuildcome back. Remember, rebuild …. come back!

Whatever was intended by those words (for better or worse) have now been embedded in the 104th floor of the One World Trade Tower where they will stay until the Lord deems otherwise. An obvious throw back to the Tower of Babel in Genesis chapter 11 – its days (like the tower of old) may very well be numbered.

Speaking of the number 104 – it’s interesting to note that the 104th Psalm speaks of God as builder. The beam He has placed. Laying out in majestic prose this beautiful Psalm affirms God as both creator and master over all – including climate – which does his will by just the breath of his word.

“He wraps himself in light as with a garment; he stretches out the heavens like a tent and lays the beams of his upper chambers on their waters. He makes the clouds his chariot and rides on the wings of the wind. He makes winds his messengers, flames of fire his servants. He set the earth on its foundations; it can never be moved. Psalm 104: 2-5

Yet on June 25, 2013 President Obama took the opportunity to mock those who disagreed with him on climate change as the dumbest of the dumb …. flat earthers he called them. A sly dig at anyone who does not have the kind of forward thinking that he does (at least in his opinion). You know, people who just will not move ahead with the times. People who insist on living their lives based on what he considers to be the failed patterns of the past.

“We don’t have time for a meeting of the flat earth society” he said. “Sticking your head in the sand might make you feel safer, but it’s not going to protect you from the coming storm.”

Not one for missing an opportunity to exalt himself and denigrate anyone who may disagree with him. The President uses fear and intimidation in making his point. And why would that be important? Well, climate change is the stick of choice on which all of their policies hang in order to bring about the change they want. And an effective stick it is. What they don’t realize or perhaps more accurately choose not to recognize is that climate is not theirs to manipulate. It belongs to the God of Psalm 104 who uses it at his will. Not theirs.

On the eve of the anniversary of 9/11 these are some of the things I am thinking about. How much our country has changed since that fateful day. How we came to elect a man whose arrogance and pride have done more damage than the planes ever did in bringing down the towers.

But this is a new era, you say …. Trump is in office. Barak Obama is a has been. Well, maybe, maybe not. One thing for sure. The bold words he penned on the beam embedded on the 104th floor of the One World Trade Tower remain to this day. And the scripture is clear – for those who mock – there is no remedy. And that is something we really must think about.

  1. Thank-you for this very insightful article, sister Cindy. Your opening verse was spot-on and the connection to Psalm 104 stunningly precise as well. You are right to be wary about, let’s say . . . “a new day having dawned” with a new President. And, as you suggested, those words of Mr. Obama are now a part of history, America’s legacy; the words are “stuck” there in the beam on the 104th floor and cannot be erased. Indeed, Mr. Obama has done tremendous damage, and continues to do so from his new BelMont residence 6.66 km from the White House. He is by no means a “has been” as some would like to hope and pretend. And I’m totally agreed, Cindy, that these past 18 years have seen dramatic changes in America. Negative changes.

By the way, the Jeremiad prophecies about Babylon from Jeremiah 50:1 to 51:58 inclusive encompass precisely 104 verses.

    Shalom,

    Serayah

P.S.: Your title “Without Remedy” reminds me of Jeremiah 51:9 about Babylon not being healed-

“We would have healed Babylon, but she is not healed: forsake her, and let us go every one into his own country: for her judgment reacheth unto heaven, and is lifted up even to the skies.”

    • Thank you so much for your encouragement and for taking the time to be specific. I’m not always sure what I wish to convey comes through so I appreciate the feedback. I was awake until the early morning hours last night after writing my post and then reading yours and was so grieved in my Spirit I could hardly sleep. I kept thinking “what have we done, what have we done” words of anguish at the thought of how cheaply we have sold our souls.
