For the hundreds of fans gathered for an evening concert death was undoubtedly, the furthest thing from their minds. No one would have believed as they lined up for entrance that night that before the first song had ended dozens would be laying dead, dying or wounded – the refrain to the words of the song “Kiss the Devil” still on the lips of those who just moments earlier had been waiting happy with anticipation for the evening to begin.
The California band “Eagles of Death Metal“ had just taken the stage. Eager concert goers smiled for cameras holding hands high in the air with “Devils Horns” as the band struck up the chords to the popular first song. And, as the band got going the enthusiastic crowd began to sing along.
“Who’ll love the Devil? Who’ll sing his song? Who will love the Devil and his song? I’ll love the Devil, I’ll sing his song, I will love the Devil and his song”
“Who’ll love the Devil? Who’ll kiss his tongue? Who will kiss the Devil on his tongue? I’ll love the Devil, I’ll kiss his tongue, I will kiss the Devil on his tongue”.
Ah, they just don’t write music like they used to, do they? But, I digress.
I think its a safe guess to say that most of the concert goers were neither Satanists nor Devil worshippers, although some may have been – not exactly unheard of these days. But, more than likely the majority of them were simply caught up in the lyrics of a popular song that had no more real meaning or relevance to their lives than the Halloween costumes they had donned just a few weeks earlier. Just fun and games, nothing serious.
And, I am certain that given the opportunity, the Isis death squads would just as readily enter a church where people are singing “Hallelujah, to the King” as they would a heavy metal rock concert. You don’t have to be singing songs to the devil to be on their hit list. For you see, the Devil is no respecter of persons, he cares little whether you love him or hate him. His game is death and destruction. And, for him, humanity is nothing but a pawn to be used in the real game which is his intense hatred for the God of Israel and his son, Jesus Christ.
And that is what this is really about.
We would like to think that all we need to do is get together a large army, a few big bombs and go in and smash them. But this is about more than radical Islam and their ideology. They won’t be destroyed that easily for the root is far deeper than that. There is a supernatural force that is driving this and it cannot be fought and won with conventional means.
Now that is not to say that I am advocating sitting on our thumbs for that is what our current leadership is doing. What I am saying is that when we lost sight of God, when we ejected him from our public and private lives, we also lost the real tools necessary for winning this fight. For the best of intelligence, the biggest bombs and the most determined armies are nothing when God is not in it. And, with that being the case ….. we will undoubtedly, see more of what happened in Paris and on a much larger scale. That’s not a guess …. that’s the reality of the situation.
So, where do you and I sit in all of this?
As I mentioned, the Devil cares little whether you love him or hate him. He hates you and that’s enough. When he comes calling, the way he sees it, he’s only coming for what he’s due. By rejecting God, we put ourselves in his game and he is more than happy to come and collect.
I hope if you are reading this that you are putting your trust in the Lord Jesus Christ. And that should our lives be called for – the last words on our lips would not be an anthem to the Devil but, one in praise of the Lord Jesus Christ, the one who love us, gave his life for us and is coming again.
The beautiful twenty third Psalm –
“The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness — for His names sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table for me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over.
Surely, goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the Lord, forever …. Amen!”

The Lord IS…
A belief that makes faith possible, for they that come to God must believe that He IS, and that He is the rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.
The Lord is MY…
My being a word that denotes either possession or a pertinent affiliation with another. In this case both, but in the sense that God who IS is in fact our Shepherd and He owns us.
The Lord is my SHEPHERD…
The GOOD SHEPHERD who laid down His life for the sheep, or as Paul stated it “He loved ME and gave Himself for ME.”
The GREAT SHEPHERD who through the blood of the everlasting covenant purchased us for Himself.
The CHIEF SHEPHERD and Bishop of our souls, for He not only cares for our earthly needs, but is intently mindful of our spiritual needs and works all things together for the good of those who love Him and is soon coming again for His flock…
Luke 12:32 – Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom. 33 Sell that ye have, and give alms; provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that faileth not, where no thief approacheth, neither moth corrupteth. 34 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. 35 Let your loins be girded about, and your lights burning; 36 And ye yourselves like unto men that wait for their Lord, when He will return from the wedding; that when He cometh and knocketh, they may open unto Him immediately. 37 Blessed are those servants, whom the Lord when He cometh shall find watching: verily I say unto you, that He shall gird Himself, and make them to sit down to meat, and will come forth and serve them.
