“IN THAT DAY, THE LORD, WILL PUNISH WITH HIS SWORD, HIS FIERCE, GREAT AND POWERFUL SWORD, LEVIATHAN THE GLIDING SERPENT, LEVIATHAN THE COILING SERPENT, HE WILL SLAY THE MONSTER OF THE SEA.” ISAIAH 27:1
I saw an article in the news this morning that caught my eye, it said, “Oarfish sightings spook Japanese.” Apparently, in the days following the 8.8 earthquake in Chile and the more recent 6.4 earthquake in Taiwan, at least 10 specimens or more of the extremely rare oarfish have been found washed up on shore or caught in nets. The Oarfish, also known as a Sea serpent normally live at depths of 600 to 3,300 feet and can grow in length from 16 to 20 feet long. In Japanese lore, the appearance of Oarfish were considered warning of an impending earthquake. And while, science tends to dismiss such notions, there are many who can testify to the strange behavior of animals preceding a disaster. Have the Oarfish reacted to underwater seismic activity? I wouldn’t be at all surprised. For a look at the incredible Oarfish, click here: http://www.ozanimals.com/Fish/Oarfish/Regalecus/glesne.html and here: http://www.bloodydecks.com/forums/baja-mexico-fishing-reports-discussion/81929-isla-san-marcos-sea-story-09-01-07-oarfish.html
I think the appearance of the Oarfish may well preclude an earth quake as the Pacific Ring of Fire is a hot bed for seismic activity right now. I don’t believe its an omen, but, I do believe it may be a harbinger. Without taking the time to look up the difference between these two words, omen to me smacks of the occult, while harbinger seems more appropriately God ordained. In other words, although, the reaction of the Oarfish to seismic activity may be both natural and instinctive, it may still, by the very timing of the event, be by the purposeful hand of God. The harbinger of the Oarfish, the Sea Serpent, may be a two-fold warning; one, in regard to earthquakes or impending disaster, – two, the soon release of the other serpent, the one of Revelation 13, who rises from the sea.
“MAY THOSE WHO CURSE DAYS, CURSE THAT DAY, THOSE WHO ARE READY TO RAISE LEVIATHAN” JOB 3:8
In the Bible, Leviathan is likened unto Satan. In Revelation chapter 9, the abyss or bottomess pit is opened at the sound of the fifth trumpet of the seventh seal. Loosed from the deep, will be every manner of evil spirits as represented by leviathan with the power to torment mankind for five months. Its believed from the Midrash, a Jewish commentary on the Hebrew scriptures, that Leviathan was created on the fifth day and that when Messiah comes, he will be slain and his flesh will be served at a banquet for the righteous and his skin will be used to create the tent for the banquet. Interestingly, each year at Sukkot, The Feast of Tabernacles, where Jews are commanded to live in “booths” or temporary shelters for seven days (symbolic of the Messianic Kingdom), the prayer on leaving the Sukkah is this:
“May it be your will Lord our God and God of our forefathers, that just as I have fulfilled and dwelled in the Sukkah, so may I merit in the coming year to dwell in the sukkah of the skin of Leviathan. Next year in Jerusalem!”
++++++++++
In Revelation 12:12 it says – “Therefore rejoice you heavens and all who dwell in them! But, woe to the earth and the sea, because the devil has gone down to you! He is filled with fury, because he knows his time is short.”
It appears, that the old Serpent Satan, the nemesis of God is going to be brought up from the deep, like the Oarfish, for one last day in the sun, but, it will be short-lived. The Messiah, who came once to die for us, is coming again and when he does, the victory that was secured at the cross, will finally be made complete. And, for those who trust in Christ, there is for us, you might say, a “heavenly fish-fry” in our future, one held beneath a beautiful canopy – meal and accomodations courtesy of Leviathan!
The dragon/monster ‘Jabberwock’ in Tim Burton’s latest film, “Alice in Wonderland” looks remarkably similar to the picture you posted here.
Plenty of pseudo-Christian allegory in that one that I hope to write about later today.
Funny how the same memes just keep popping up in parallel at the same time, isn’t it?

Hi Art, what you’re saying about the Alice in Wonderland film doesn’t surprise me, from the short clips I saw, it had a very demonic feel to it. I’m still mulling this morning about Job 3:8 – “curse the day of those ready to raise leviathan.” It appears to me a deliberate attempt is being made to rouse this creature, same thing more or less, that Tom Horn is saying about the raising of Osiris in his book Apollyon Rising – maybe just use of a different metaphor. None the less, very troubling to say the least. The unsaved and unsuspecting world has no idea of what is about to be unleashed – and, I think even for us who are saved, in our deepest imagings cannot really fathom what is ahead. Cindy

Hi, i found your site thru ultraguy… Here’s something else that occurred to me as I read this.
The Oarfish is scientifically known as “Regalecus glesne” which means KING OF THE HERRING.
RED HERRING comes to mind… as it king of deception.

Great comment! Very interesting, I’ve always heard the term red herring but, didn’t realize it had to do with the oar fish. Thanks for taking the time to add this information. I think its pertinent and adds a lot to the story. Blessings! Cindy
