“The mountains quake before him and the hills melt away. The earth trembles at his presence, the world and all who live in it. Who can withstand his indignation? Who can endure his fierce anger? His wrath is poured out like fire; the rocks are shattered before him”. Nahum 1:5-6
The month of January is rapidly coming to a close and already the year is proving to be one unlike any other. When it comes to Bible prophecy it seems like there are weeks on end with no new developments and then suddenly everything pops in to place leaving Bible scholars and teachers everywhere scrambling to put it in to some kind of order.
Just since the start of the year we have witnessed a number of things – conflict with Iran, the soon roll out of the deal of the Century, increase in seismic activity – both earthquake and volcano, fires, pestilence (the new virus out of China), the impeachment trial of the President, and a gathering of “Kings” in Israel. I also read that an asteroid exploded over Hwy 6 in Israel yesterday. Put it all together and its quite a package. And all in just three short weeks!
I opened todays post with a photo of a deep crevice. As we all know crevices like these can form as the result of large earthquakes. We’ve heard about them and seen them in disaster movies depicted in ways that are truly frightening. We’ve been warned by numerous sources for years that the big one is coming; every one knows it – it’s common knowledge – yet, most live as though it will never be reality. Choosing instead to tuck the information away like a long forgotten handkerchief in the side pocket of a jacket seldom worn. Hoping against hope that it will never happen – at least in our life time.
My daughter who I often refer to as Seven Stars had an interesting dream which she relayed to me yesterday. I thought with all of the events converging at this particular time that it might be worth a mention. Particularly in light of the soon release of President Trumps Deal of the Century which could come as soon as the next few days – reportedly before the visit of Prime Minister Netanyahu in Washington next Tuesday January 28.
There has been a lot of speculation over the past few months as to the details of the plan. According to a number of leaks a Palestinian State would be created by dividing Jerusalem. But according to an article from the Jerusalem Post as reported by Israel Breaking News yesterday that is not the case. Rather it said –
“Preliminary reports Thursday indicated that the plan would give Israel sovereignty over the Jordan Valley and all the settlements, and make Jerusalem the capital of Israel”
And of course that’s great. I don’t want to see Jerusalem divided. But I am a little confused. I really don’t see how they will ever get the Palestinians to come to the table without that carrot to dangle. But then again, there is probably nothing they would agree to anyway as their main objective is the complete and utter destruction of the Jewish people and the Jewish state. So there you have it. And yet somehow it will happen because it is written. In Joel it clearly states that the land will be divided invoking God’s judgment against the nations.
“I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down in to the valley of Jehoshaphat, and will plead for them there for my people and for my heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and parted my land”. Joel 3:2
Back to the dream –
My daughter was in a grocery store. In the produce department. A conversation came up with someone (though this someone was not an actual person) who proceeded to show her all of the earthquakes from the beginning of time until the present. You can imagine how unsettling that would be – yet the worst part was knowing that there was more to come and one in particular that would be so big, so powerful and so massive that all others would pale in comparison.
Can you imagine? A quake so powerful that the geography of the land would be permanently altered from what it is known to be today. Somehow, she knew the location was San Francisco and the San Joaquin Valley by extension. Known as the breadbasket of the world for all the food it produces the San Joaquin Valley is essential to food production not only for this country but for the world at large. Thus it made sense that the information relayed to her was from the produce department of the Supermarket.
A lot of people have had dreams and visions of a major quake in California. Science alone tells us that it’s not if, but when. So that’s nothing new. What is unique to this dream is the manner in which the information was relayed. The messenger was not a person, a thing or an entity of any kind good or bad. It was rather the crevice itself that spoke. The force deep in the belly of the earth you might say where the structure itself is held together. Jesus said –
“I tell you, if they (those who praise him) keep quiet, the stones will cry out” Luke 19:40
It is important to understand that God has put everything in place from the beginning of time. Both for our salvation and for judgment. These stones like everything else were created for a purpose. And when the world won’t praise him they will. Acting in response to his voice they will heave up from their place in a great cacophony of sound that will shake the earth and make the world tremble.
I don’t know when this great earthquake will occur. It may be soon. And if Jerusalem is divided it could literally be any day. We wait and see.
“Pray for the peace of Jerusalem they shall prosper who love thee” Psalm 122:6
