It happened again. A false emergency alert on the Hawaiian islands of Oahu and Maui. And people are steamed. How can they trust the emergency alert system (they ask) if officials keep setting it off in error.
Yesterday September 18th at 5:10 p.m. it happened again and it would be 8-12 minutes before authorities acknowledged that it was once again a goof. Not quite as bad (but almost) as the false alarm regarding incoming missiles the island received on Saturday January 13, 2018 at 8:07 a.m. An alarm which came with these words “SEEK IMMEDIATE SHELTER THIS IS NOT A DRILL.” Can you imagine! And it would be at least 13 minutes before that message would be refuted. Perhaps the 13 scariest minutes of ones life!
Years ago I had a vivid dream of a nuclear attack on the Island of Oahu. And thank God nothing of the sort has happened (yet) which is not to say that it won’t. And I certainly hope and pray that it never will but I have to tell you these false alarms are a bit concerning. Two mishaps in 613 days. What’s going on? Are the authorities in charge really that inept? And even if the answer to that question were yes it would not diminish the impact of why this has happened twice in a relatively short period of time.
In a state where Pearl Harbor is a constant reminder of the element of surprise. People want the assurance that the emergency alert systems are working and reliable. And I can’t blame them for that. I would be too.

Pearl Harbor again… hmmm…
From “The Franck Report,” which supposed to be delivered to President Trueman and was signed by all the top scientists who worked on the Manhattan Project. However, Secretary of War Henry Stimson intercepted it…
“All of us, familiar with the present state of nucleonics, live with the vision before our eyes of sudden destruction visited on our own country, of a Pearl Harbor disaster repeated in thousand-fold magnification in every one of our major cities.”

Upon being made aware the Franck Report wasn’t delivered, they sent another ” Petition to the President of the United States,” from which the following excerpt was taken. Note the last sentence…
“The war has to be brought speedily to a successful conclusion and attacks by atomic bombs may very well be an effective method of warfare. We feel, however, that such attacks on Japan could not be justified, at least not unless the terms which will be imposed after the war on Japan were made public in detail and Japan were given an opportunity to surrender.”
“If such public announcement gave assurance to the Japanese that they could look forward to a life devoted to peaceful pursuits in their homeland and if Japan still refused to surrender, our nation might then, in certain circumstances, find itself forced to resort to the use of atomic bombs. Such a step, however, ought not to be made at any time without seriously considering the moral responsibilities which are involved.”
“The development of atomic power will provide the nations with new means of destruction. The atomic bombs at our disposal represent only the first step in this direction, and there is almost no limit to the destructive power which will become available in the course of their future development. Thus a nation which sets the precedent of using these newly liberated forces of nature for purposes of destruction may have to bear the responsibility of opening the door to an era of devastation on an unimaginable scale.”

There’s a reason why the destruction of “Pearl Harbor” continues to echo, for listen to the righteous judgment of God, “If any man has an ear, let him hear. He that leads into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword [or weapon of war,] must be killed with the sword, [or the same weapon of war].”

Thank you William for adding some depth to this article. I think that you have touched on some important points. I hope everyone will take some time to read your comment as its an important one. I have long thought that the history of the islands from their discovery through WW2 and even through today is yet unfinished. Are these false alarms a harbinger of that …well, I guess only time will tell. Great hearing from you and thanks once again for your comment.
