The Pride of America

Last week, I was treated to one of the most spectacular sights on the planet. Hawaiian volcano Kilauea spewing lava into the ocean at night. The photo above is not one I took but, similar to what I saw – rivers of lava and great plumes of steam/smoke rising as molten liquid cascaded from the descending cliffs of the island above to the cool waters of the Pacific below. It was amazing! Breathtakingly beautiful …. and, sobering.  The cruise ship I was on, but, a tiny pea bobbing in the night in the middle of a vast primordial fish bowl.  Talk about feeling small!

Yes, all last week, I had the pleasure of touring the islands via The Pride of America cruise ship courtesy of my mother, whose dream it has been to take her children on a very special trip before the Lord takes her home someday.

And, it was a wonderful and special trip. One I will never forget. And, an absolute escape from reality. President Obama was inaugurated for his second term. I missed it. The pesky fly that buzzed his head (once again) as he was speaking, missed that too. And, now here I am (back home again) just in time to see everyone getting pumped up for the Superbowl. And, it looks to be a doozy.  Set in decadent New Orleans with brother pitted against brother, creepy Superbowl ads and sexy entertainers; this super bowl has it all! A media lovers dream come true!

Ah, yes. American football, the Superbowl; the pride of America. It all seems so important. So, necessary. We live it, we breathe it, we crave it. It’s in our blood, we’re American’s and this is our game!

In the days leading up to the Superbowl, Mercedes-Benz has been running an ad, in which, the year 2013 is shown going up in flames. And, while no one knows exactly why (yet) – it makes me think that perhaps, this time, the ship has sailed a little too close to the volcano. So, close in fact, that the fire and light (to those who do not know any better) seem like part of the show –  until, it’s too late and the pride of America caught afire is reduced to cinder and ash.

*Thank you to all of you, who missed me while I was away. I apologize that I did not notify you first.

May the Lord bless and keep watch over you in these very turbulent times.

Watching and waiting with YOU for the soon return of Jesus. And, as always ….

“Pray for the peace of Jerusalem, they shall prosper, who love thee” Psalm 122:6

  1. I am glad you enjoyed your nice gift from your dear and thoughtful mother! I was just thinking it has been a while since I recieved a post from you.

The football that has taken the place of church gathering, along with other downsides you mentioned, and New Orleans (not new, but old evil and idolatry), does appear to be an interesting combined brew for our nation. I don’t plan to partake of her sins. I do think our heavenly Abba is telling us something with the continuing appearance of the “fly” landing on Obama! Flies tend to land on dung, decay, and death. Israel is left alone to defend itself against her enemies that seek to end her existence. The scriptures tell us that God will bring these enemies down on her, and they will discover they are no match against such force, turning their efforts and trust over to the only one who can and WILL save Israel. We must keep in mind this is for Gods Glory! I think we can expect to see Ezekiel 38-39, at any moment!

Lets continue to repent, give thanks, and pray to be found worthy to escape ALL these things ~ Amen!

    Blessings

  2. Cindy, I am so glad that you are “back” and I believe that I speak for many when I say that you’ve been greatly missed!

I am so pleased for you and your family, that you were able to have this time together. It’s a good thing that you didn’t tell me the name of the cruise ship prior to your departure, or I would have been very concerned for you! LOL, but seriously, imagine, The Pride of America! Wow, what a name for we know that very soon America’s pride will be greatly reduced as she will be humbled and all her idols will be smashed. That includes the Super Bowl, one of the greatest idols of all.

Great job with this post, as always. Certainly for the Super Bowl to be held in “Sin City” New Orleans and including a team from San Francisco (Sodom?) and another called “Ravens” doesn’t bode well. Brother Joseph Herrin has done an analysis of 3 February at his blog; many of your readers likely have read his article already but if not here it is-

Also, I’m so glad that you mentioned the flaming 13 of the 2013, as it confirms my own ominous feelings about this year.

Blessings dear sister, and thank-you for your fine work,

    Carlos

  3. Watching the immense changes that our God is bringing about with the earth is breath taking. It is very hard for me to even imagine what the new earth will look like without the effects of sin.

The condition of man without the Holy Spirit is horrific. These games are not much different than the blood thirsty games of times past.

I have set my eyes on Christ and will stand and reject that which does not come from him.

Especially those who have Him in name only. He who can hear, let him hear.

    Luke 14:

32 Or else, while the other is yet a great way off, he sendeth an ambassage, and desireth conditions of peace.

33 So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple.

34 Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be seasoned?
