One Simple Truth

“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” Genesis 1:1

Genesis chapter one, verse one – the foundation on which all of the Bible rests.  To reject the validity and authority of this one verse is throw all other scripture in to doubt.

People often ask, “Considering the immense size of the Universe, is it reasonable to think that earth and earth alone is the only place which supports life?” And, I believe the answer to that is – yes.  And, here’s why.

To back up a little, the subject came up in conversation with my daughter Seven Stars yesterday and like the astute Bible student that she is,  she pointed out the simple yet profound truth contained within Genesis 1:1.

In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.

That’s it. The heavens and the earth –  implying, if you will that from God’s view point there are two, and two places only of which, he is concerned – the heavens and the earth.  The heavens, (which include the atmosphere and the Cosmos, as well, as the third heaven, where he dwells) – and earth. And, earth is where, he would perform his redemptive work liberating not only mankind from the curse of sin, but, all of creation.

In Isaiah 66:1, we get insight in to the special connection that God has with earth.

“Heaven is my throne and the earth is my footstool.”

More than poetic language, I believe this verse explains the unique connection between God and earth. Heaven is where he dwells but, it is earth where he rests his feet.  Not Pluto, not Saturn, not Venus or any other distant planet in some far off galaxy, but, earth. For earth is not only the place where he rests his feet, it is also, the place, where he would walk in the form of Y’shua two thousand years ago, and, it is to earth that he will return again, one day soon.

It’s important that we grasp this one simple truth, for if we do not, we are in danger of great deception and are at risk for what the Bible calls the great delusion and lie.

“For this reason, God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie …”  2 Thessalonians 2:11

What lie is that?  Well, the original one from the fall in the garden in Genesis, when the serpent said to Eve –

“For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”

The same lie that is being posited today through evolution and the popular idea that we are being and have been visited from the beginning of time by extraterrestrials, who, in my opinion are nothing more than demons manifesting from the spiritual realm.

It is imperative, therefore, that we settle in our minds in advance as to what it is we really believe. For the day is coming, when the delusion will be so great that if we do not already have our minds settled on the truth of God’s word, we will be sucked in.

Right now, the world falls in to three camps. Those who believe the word of God, those who reject the word of God and those who doubt the word of God.

Make sure, which camp you’re in. For the day is coming (and, coming soon), when it will matter a great deal, what you believe.  Make sure you trust in Jesus and make sure you trust his word.

“Pray for the peace of Jerusalem, they shall prosper who love thee” Psalm 122:6

Watching and waiting with YOU for the soon return of Jesus!  Cindy

  1. A person either believes Gods Word or he doesn’t. Being on your way means that you have not yet arrived. Even if there were “extraterrestrials” , why would they want to come here? It is the devil who creates doubt and destroys the seed.

  2. Excellent article! The doubters make up most “Christians” in our churches. Is it any wonder the church is so weak?

  3. I disagree. I think there are many more Earthlike planets God created, probably other beings, too. He doesn’t need to include every single creation in the Holy Bible scriptures, especially when it will bring no relevance to our mission to bring heaven to earth. Earth is just a small player in a much bigger board game, in my opinion.

[Hi Paul, Thank you for reading my blog and for for taking the time to write. While you think the Bible has left out information regarding the possibility of life on other planets, I contend that the Bible has already answered that question and more. No, you won’t find it in any one singular verse – it is based on an understanding of scripture as a whole – in context. It has never been “our mission” to bring heaven to earth, as you state in your comment; that’s God’s work. To speculate on or entertain ideas which have no Biblical basis, is to open oneself up to deception. And, that is exactly what I want people to be aware of. I hope I have given you something to think about. Many blessings and thanks again for writing! C]

  4. Cindy,

Long time no *see*. 🙂 I pray you are well.

Wow. This post is so important for us to really read and pray over. Time is running short and we need to make sure we know what we believe, man’s word or God’s Word. What will our wisdom be based on? Man’s beliefs (rejection of God or His word as absolute, Psalm 14:1; 53:1) or the fear of the Lord (Prov. 1:7, 9:10; Psalm 111:10)?

Faith is very critical in regard to this. You mentioned the delusion and I know we’ve often wondered how it could be that so many Christians would/could be deluded, but I wonder if it’s a lack of faith in the Word of God? If we doubt that, then we doubt God. It’s the roadmap we need to follow, the light on our path, the instruction manual when we don’t know what to do and the love letter for our heart and soul. It’s His will, in written form, His story for our edification.

It’s not always easy, but faith is a requirement to help us overcome when we might begin to doubt that all scripture is God-breathed (II Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:19-21). If it helps, we need to remember, even the disciples who walked the earth with Jesus struggled to faithfully believe/understand all that Jesus taught them. Remember, Peter basically told our Lord that he had no other option but to follow, there is no other way for him.

If one cannot believe the opening, then there is no basis to believe the entire text. If the enemy can create doubt in that one little verse or two, then why would anyone believe in verses regarding Christ’s sacrifice or passages of how to be saved?

It is so important we get in it, learn it and hide it in our hearts now and believe, for time grows short and in the days ahead it will only become more and more difficult.

    Prayers, Tamara

[Very well said, Tamara! You are exactly right. We need to be more sure than ever what it is we believe, and why, for in the coming days, it will be sorely tested. Thanks so much for writing! It’s great hearing from you as always! Love and blessings in Y’shua, C]
