By Fire and Water

      Pearl Harbor, Dec. 7, 1941

I would like to thank Jean Stepnoski for her recent post on Five Doves as it provided the inspiration for writing this post. As usual, Jean provides thoughtful commentary along with astute observations from a Messianic point of view, which, I greatly appreciate. In her post of 12/2/11, Jean points out that the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941 was both a trial by fire and by water. Important, when you consider that the judgments of God almost always involve one or both of these elements – fire and water. And, the attack on Pearl Harbor involved both.

I think this is an important observation, because, it was the attack on Pearl Harbor that brought a previously reluctant United States in to the war.  Up until then, the United States had taken an isolationist position (in regard to the war in Europe),  in spite of, numerous reports being received of horrific treatment of European Jews (and others) at the hands of theNazi regime. And, even then, did not join in on the war in Europe (just Japan) until Hitler first declared war on the US.

Seventy years, later, we find ourselves in a similar position.

War in the middle-East is brewing and Israel is in danger of perhaps it’s greatest threat ever. And, while time is running out on a decision to stop Iran from successfully achieving their nuclear aspirations for the express purpose of annihilating the state of Israel, the United States, via, the Obama administration continues to dilly dally with the idea of sanctions, which, in the long run will probably not work anyway – should, they even approve it.

There was an article by Paul McGuire posted on Five Doves today by Ron Reese titled – “Is Russia Preparing to Attack the United States?” And, as chilling as that thought may be, it appears that there is mounting evidence to suggest just that.

And, when you look at Jeremiah 50 and 51, one would be hard pressed to say why the United States would not fit the numerous descriptions of an end-time “Babylon” coming under judgment by a kingdom who descends on them out of the far north.

I think, therefore, that there is sufficient evidence to suggest that judgment by fire is in the not-to-distant future for this end-times nation – Babylon.  The lessons of Pearl Harbor, seventy years, after the event, apparently, unheeded.  This time though, judgment will be complete, as this will not be, the “kick in the pants” type of event that Pearl Harbor was, which, finally got us to enter the war.

There are a number of reasons, why God may allow this nation to be removed. First of all, if we will not stand for Israel, then, we are of no use to him – as far as end time scenarios go.  Secondly, the sins we have accumulated in the seventy years since Pearl Harbor have become increasingly grievous before him, demanding his righteous judgment.  Therefore, there is no real reason this rich and arrogant nation should continue as is.

Once Babylon is destroyed (or, severely disabled), it will appear that Israel will be easy pickings and her enemies will swoop down for the spoil.  But, they will be in for a big surprise, as God himself will fight on her behalf.

When you think about it, “judgment” by fire and water is the flip side or reverse of what it is to be “saved” by fire and water, (figuratively, speaking of course).  Water, symbol of the new birth and fire, symbol of the filling of the Holy Spirit.

The question then is, are you ready for what lies ahead?   Will you be “saved” by fire and water or “judged” by it?  If you haven’t yet made that decision, I implore you to do so now, in fact, no-decision is a decision and time is running out.

It’s very simple, call on the name of Jesus, ask him to forgive your sin and to come in to your life; it’s as easy as that.  Just take that first step and, he will do the rest – you have his promise on that!

Grace and blessings to all!  And, –

“Pray for the peace of Jerusalem, they shall prosper who love thee” Psalm 122:6

Watching and waiting with YOU for the soon return of Jesus!  Cindy

  1. Excellent post Cindy, sadly it is all too true.

After I read about the congressional vote to remove the military ban on sodomy and bestiality with a vote of 93 to 7 I was reminded of God’s expressed willingness to Abraham to spare Sodom and Gomorrah if he could just find “10” righteous men . . . and we only had 7 . . .

There was a when all of congress would have been horrified at the mention of such a proposal, and yet now 93% stand for such wickedness. How can we escape the same fire and brimstone from being poured out upon us? As it was said before, surely God would have to apologize if He does not so judge America.

We need to seek first our God’s glory and be jealous for His name. Quit seeking things for our own consumption and allowing ourselves to think we can settle for God’s second best for us because we have His grace. Grace is to save us, to make us partakers of His divine nature, to make us MORE THAN overcomers.

There is no second best. The promises are to overcomers, fruit bearers . . . those having Christ formed in them by crucifying their flesh with the lust and affections thereof.

It is one thing to ask God to forgive us for the sins we committed when we were dead in our trespasses and sins or temporarily overcome by the violence of temptation and a completely different thing to ask for forgiveness for what we have failed and even refused to do after He has afforded us so great a salvation.

How can America escape? How can the American Church escape is we have been nothing more than blind guides consenting with thieves and full of adulterous eyes loving the world?

Wake up Church . . . wake up.

[Thank you, William, for your excellent comment. It’s hard to believe sometimes that we have really sunk this low. Agreeing with you in prayer, wake up Church … wake up! C]

    • There was a TIME when all of congress would have been horrified at the mention of such a proposal . . .

      • Very right and appropriately stated! Thanks Cindy for bringing up this topic and William for your added ‘food’ and sharing.
Just as some are reporting the inappropriateness of serving Pearl Harbor Japanese food for lunch as “completely coincidental” it does show a lack of respect and honor of those killed in this allowed (set up) attack. It’s the slippery slope of slothfulness and deranged ungodliness that is accelerating the decline. And maybe that’s a Blessing from God too, for the sicker it becomes with each passing day – coming to “the full” – the sooner we can leave! does a good write up to remind us that our Lord is patient and knowing (although we treat along quite blindly at times – unaware of His presence), and William refers to an audio that’s entrusting. Thanks again Cindy. God Bless.

      • *correction* “we ‘tread’ along” …
Some “treat” while they tread!! 🙂

  2. Cindy, The following passage came to mind regarding fire and water.

    Isaiah 43:2-3a

2 When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.

3a For I am the LORD thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour:

I am so thankful God’s Word gives us hope and strengthens us for what lies ahead.

[Thank you, Coreen for adding this powerful scripture, it really says so much. A good one for commiting to memory, if, not done so already. May God bless and strengthen you in the days ahead, Coreen and thanks again for writing! C]

  3. I am a reader of several christian prophetic web sites and have read accounts of others’ dreams of the end. Honestly, I sit back and wonder whether they’re fabricating these experiences according to all of our hope of rapture soon. I have been so hopeful, so many times this year, only to be disappointed. I have had to step back and realize that my wishes to be raptured off of this planet is selfish and that Gods’ time is not my own.
I hesitate to add my own dream to this mix, but as soon as I started reading your latest post, a chill ran down my spine. As I said, I have relaxed and realized that God will not return according to my wishes and wants. On Thursday night I had an unusual dream. I have never had a dream like this before, and can not connect any reason to why I would have had it.
I have raced dirt bikes all through my life, and I dreampt that I was riding in a foothill area a short distance from my home. As in most dreams, I knew where I was “supposed” to be, but it looked different. I rode down a hill and turned to ride up another, when I noticed water gushing down the hill I had just ridden down. As I rode up the next hill, the water was also running down it, and I got stuck in mud going up. I looked to where the water was coming from and saw many people running from the top of the hill where the water was coming from, towards me. Obviously, my first thought was ‘where is water coming from out of the tops of these foothills’. Then I saw what they were running from. There were multiple (10 to12) Whirlwind-sized twisters of fire chasing them, on various paths. By this time, others had joined me on the hill, and the twisters passed away from us, but we saw a line of fire advancing towards us. I brought the group into an adjacent gully with no vegetation and we all laid down while the fire swept over us. As it went over, I felt a compression in my chest of sorts, like a concussion. Then, those of us in the gully got up and went to survey the damage, but it wasn’t like we had just been in this situation. There was really no damage to our surroundings. Then, I woke up. I have no idea what this means, other than that since I have let go of being so passionate about looking forward to a timely rapture and have been trying to be patient, that the lord was reminding me that it was coming soon. I don’t know, but it rekindled my hope to get off of this rock in the very near future.
Honestly, this sounds like so many other “prophetic” dreams I have read about and been very skeptical of. But the way I felt when I woke up was very interesting, and I can’t put it into words. I have been thinking about it since then here and there trying to analyze it, and this post you wrote tonight prompted me to sound off.

[Hi Rick, Thanks for writing, I’m so glad you did! I understand what you’re saying about dreams, I too, am skeptical of most, unless, they are my own! I think, it is because, we know our own dream patterns better than any one else, therefore, we know, when one stands apart from the others.

I think this dream is very interesting and one you should indeed pay attention to. My guess is that it is prophetic, at least, in the sense, that the spirit of God within you testifies that judgment is indeed coming. The good news is that you were shielded from the fire by surrendering before it – laying yourself down -symbolic, I’m sure of surrendering your life to Christ in the face of judgment. Note too, that it was you who led a group in to the gully, an indication, perhaps, of the work you have to do among your family and friends, as you see the day approaching.

Thank you, Brother for sharing this awesome dream! You are blessed, for God has shown you (and us) that while we may at times be disappointed, all of these things will take place in his perfect time – until then, we must keep working at getting that group in to the gully – just like in your dream! Grace and blessings! C]

  4. America has been over the line in that it gave actual military assistance to those factions in Libya AKA the Muslim brotherhood. This was an act of sedition on the Presidents behalf. He moved ahead without Congressional approval. But none the less, he used our military to give assistance to not only those who have made it clear to exterminate Israel, but also forces that had Al-Queida blended with them, a known enemy of the United States that we are actually at war with over the acts of 9-11. This act of treason has been overlooked. A nation is not above the law. It’s own transgression will be dealt with and the way the Lord deals with nations is the enemy is allowed to afflict them. As for the United States as being Babylon, it is not alone in being Babylon. I believe that the Word portrays Babylon outside of the one established with geographic boundaries as being a world system that is headed up by Satan himself. Not just modern day America.
But yes America is going to fall, how will it happen? I think it has been rotting for a while. As a carpenter, when I pick up a piece of dimension lumber and it it is “punky” it may have the same appearance as the rest but it does not have the strength that it once had.
I will also say that dreams are not authoritative, the Word of God is. God can give dreams, yes, but so can the enemy.

[Hi Jeff, Thanks for writing! I think you make some interesting points and I especially liked the analogy of the wood. As far as dreams are concerned, I think they can be useful for gaining insight in to certain situations, the Bible is replete with instances where dreams have been used, after all, the ability to dream is given by God, like everything else. I do agree that this should be exercised with caution and prayer as dreams can be subjective at best – and, of course, scripture is final and authoritative in all things, I don’t think anyone here has said otherwise. Blessing and thanks again for writing! C]

  5. This is why….

U.S. Senate Passes Iran Oil Sanctions as EU Blacklist Grows

The Senate bill, passed unanimously yesterday, would give the president the power starting July 1 to bar foreign financial institutions that do business with Iran’s central bank from having correspondent bank accounts in the U.S. If enacted, it could be much harder for foreign companies to pay for oil imports from Iran, the world’s third-largest crude exporter. The Obama administration opposes the legislation.

This gives Russia, China and part of Europe a choice between Iran’s Oil and American Federal Reserve Debt slavery. I am betting they pick the oil.

Does anybody remember what prompted Japan to attack the United States?,,,

U.S., Britain, and the Netherlands froze Japanese assets. This prevented Japan from buying oil, which would, in time, cripple its army and make its navy and air force completely useless.

Toward the end of 1941. With the Soviets seemingly on the verge of defeat by the Axis powers, Japan seized the opportunity to try to take the oil resources of Southeast Asia. The U.S. wanted to stop Japanese expansion but the American people were not willing to go to war to stop it. The U.S. demanded that Japan withdraw from China and Indochina, but would have settled for a token withdrawal and a promise
    not to take more territory.

Prior to December 1941, Japan pursued two simultaneous courses: try to get the oil embargo lifted on terms that would still let them take the territory they wanted, and … to prepare for war.

    See a parallel here ?

Putin prepares the Russian empire to strike back

Accepting the presidential nomination of his United Russia party last month in an otherwise tedious speech, Putin said: “When I hear people shout out ‘Russia’, I think the entire audience should do that.” The response, according to witnesses, was a deafening chant of ‘Ro-see-ya! Ro-see-ya!” while Putin pounded his fist on the podium

December and the history of Russia.

    The Rise

The Decembrist revolt or the Decembrist uprising, took place in Imperial Russia on (26 December New Style),

Unification of republics On 28 December 1922, a conference of delegations from the Russian SFSR, the Ukrainian SSR and the Byelorussian SSR approved the Treaty of Creation of the USSR and the Declaration of the Creation of the USSR, forming the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. These two documents were confirmed by the 1st Congress of Soviets of the USSR and signed by the heads of the delegations on 30 December 1922.

    The Fall

On 8 December 1991, the presidents of Russia, Ukraine and Belarus signed the Belavezha Accords, which declared the Soviet Union dissolved and established the Commonwealth of Independent States in its place. While doubts remained over the authority of the accords to do this, on 21 December 1991, the representatives of all Soviet republics except Georgia signed the Alma-Ata Protocol, which confirmed the accords. On 25 December 1991, Gorbachev yielded to the inevitable and resigned as the President of the USSR, declaring the office extinct. He turned the powers that had been vested in the presidency over to Yeltsin, the President of Russia.

Note: It was 69 years to the day from 26 December 1922, to 25 December 1991.

    Or is this why?

December 25th was in the 3rd century known as Sol Invictus a Babylonian Feast to the Sun god (Baal) adopted by the Romans and later incorporated in to the liturgy by the Roman Church. So the reader can decide whether the traditions of December 25th are suitable to honor God or man. Some of these traditions are mentioned in the 10th Chapter of Jeremiah. Although the book is not chronological, let me assure you, reading the 10th Chapter first, and then the surrounding Chapters to place it in context will be a sobering experience.

Outline of Chapters 7-15 of Jeremiah

    7- Repentance their Only Hope
    8- “The Harvest is Past”
    9- The Broken-Hearted Prophet
    10- Jehovah the True God
    11- The Broken Covenant
    12- Jeremiah’s Complaint
    13- The Marred Girdle
    14, 15 Jeremiah’s Intercession

    May God bless you all.

[Thanks Michael for taking the time to share this information with us along with your excellent observations. You always give us much to think about! Blessings and grace, C]

  6. The first judgement was by water.

The second will be by fire,

    2 Peter 3

    King James Version (KJV)

    2 Peter 3

1This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance:

2That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour:

3Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,

4And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.

5For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:

6Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:

7But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.

8But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

9The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

10But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

11Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,

12Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?

13Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.

14Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.

    15And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you;

16As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.

17Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness.

18But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

    • From the Genesis files,

In the New Testament, 2 Peter 3:10, we find an eerie verse which seems to anticipates another discovery of twentieth-century physics:

“But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up.” 2 Peter 3:10 (NKJ)

Atomic fission, the reaction that occurs in nuclear power plants and certain atomic bombs, occurs when the nucleus of radioactive elements are split with the release of enormous amounts of energy and radioactivity. The result of an atomic explosion is that the elements involved “will melt with fervent heat!” Could it be that the Holy Spirit had the process of atomic fission in mind when Peter wrote this verse.

It is unlikely that a more accurate description of the results of an atomic explosion could be found within the archives of our twentieth-century libraries. When the New Testament was written (circa. A.D. 50-100) the beliefs regarding the nature of matter were very crude. The Greeks, for example, believed that the basic elements of the universe were fire, water and earth. In the face of this view, so dominant during biblical times, it is truly remarkable to find the biblical authors accurately describing aspects of subatomic structure as well as the results of nuclear fission! Could it be that the author the Bible was also the author and designer of protons, neutrons, electrons, quarks etc..?

      • Who is Israel’s friend and supporter, the church. Where does the greatest amount of the church reside that supports Israel, the United States.
When the church is gone, where will that leave the United States.

I would have to think or reflect on the story of Lot, that judgement would not fall by God’s hand until he was safely away from Sodom and Gomorrah.

God’s wrath will not fall until the church or bride has been safely taken up in the rapture first.

We have God’s word on it,

For God has not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ. 1Thess 5:9

Want to know what this earth will be like after the rapture, when the salt and light have been removed?

Read the 7th chapter of Micah.

By the way, when the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem was given by Artaxerxes, only a remnant of the Jewish people returned to rebuild it. The majority that had remained in Babylon became successful business people.

What is the warning though to the Jews who are in the future daughter of Babylon and where do a great majority of them live today?

Flee out of the midst of Babylon, and deliver every man his soul: be not cut off in her iniquity; for this is the time of the Lord’s vengeance; he will render unto her a recompense. Jeremiah 51:6

  8. Cindy
Daniel Eggers @ his Prayers for the People blog has some thoughts on 70 years after Pearl Harbor and much more He also thinks that 12/16/11 may be a significant date which perhaps may be related to your dream some time ago to have a room ready by the 15th of an unknown month

[Thanks Stuart, I’m so glad you mentioned this. Actually, I had an e-mail from Daniel the other day about his latest post and on reading it, I found it to be absolutely phenomenal! Quite honestly, have not even begun to digest all of it yet, as I have been busy on a new post of my own. For those who have not yet read Daniels latest work, you can get to it here – And, thanks Stuart too for the reminder of the 15th, its a date, I still look at closely! Grace and blessings! C]
