Maybe you caught this on the news this morning. Just before noon today, a 4.2 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Israel. Ten miles deep, it caused little or no damage but, was felt by many as it jolted the northern coastal plain at 11:55 a.m. Israeli time. Centered 44 miles north of Tel Aviv, 49 miles south of Haifa and 40 miles west of Binyamina, scientists say, it was an unusual and unexpected location for an earthquake. *Another report, lists it as striking the area of Netanya.
When I read the story, I couldn’t help but notice several of the names and numbers to be Biblically signficant, not to mention, the date of the earthquake Av 7.
One of the first things I noticed was the number 40. Forty as most of us know is a number in the Bible almost always associated with a time of trial or testing. In this case, 40 is mentioned three times – 40, 44 and 49. And 40, the most direct match is mentioned in connection with the city or town by the name of Binyamina.
I had a hunch Binyamina was connected to the name Binyamin and I was right; it is the feminine derivative of the name Binyamin or Benjamin. It is also, the name of the current Prime Minister and the name of Patriarch Jacob’s 12th and favorite son (with the exception of Joseph, of course).
Benjamin in Hebrew means “son of my right hand” – a title which carries with it a great deal of responsibility. It is not coincidence that the Prime Minister should have this name, for it is he, whom God has chosen to lead his people into the final seven years of history; a time the Bible refers to as – the time of Jacob’s trouble. A time foreseen by the Patriarch in the blessing of his sons. The Bible says, that shortly before he died, Jacob leaned on his staff and blessed each of his 12 sons; and, of son Benjamin, he had this to say:
“Benjamin is a ravenous wolf; In the morning, he devours the prey. And in the evening, he divides the spoil.” Gen. 49:27.
Speaking widely of each tribe, he also, blessed them quite specifically. It cannot be coincidence that the name of the Prime Minister should be one and the same as the tribe which was allotted the city of Jerusalem to their territory, when the land was divided amongst them. (Joshua 18:28).
Looking at today’s date, you will notice that it plays a very significant part in Jewish history as well, for it is the events of Av 7 that lead to the saddest day in Jewish history, the events of Av 9.
It was on Av 7, that Nebuchadnezzar’s armies broke through the walls of Jerusalem in 586 BC, setting fire to the Holy Temple and destroying it 3 days later on Av 9. It is also the date fighting broke out among Jewish factions inside the besieged city of Jerusalem in 67 CE leading to its destruction 3 years later by Roman armies on Av 9.
As I read news of the earthquake, I wondered, if it could be a three-day warning leading up to Av 9 of this year. A warning specifially directed towards the Prime Minister in regard to any decisions he mighrt be making at this time in regard to God’s city. God has chosen him, but, God also wants him to listen when he speaks. Then again, it could be a 40 day warning, for 40 days from Av 7 is Elul 17, the day on which Noah dispatched the dove.
The dove is of course, a universally recognized symbol of peace. I wonder then, if Elul 17 might be a significant date in the stalled peace negotiations precluding the UN vote slated for this September. Only God knows and only time will tell.
In the mean time, Elul (the last month of the Jewish civil calendar) means “harvest” and is a period of time used for repentance and forgiveness in the days leading up to the high holy days of September and October. In these last days, may we too, be seeking God in repentance and forgiveness – for a warning to Israel is also, a warning to us.
May we be ready to meet the coming King!

I saw that earthquake yesterday Cindy and I immediately thought about how Israel was to suffer from some massive earthquakes in the future. How wonderful that God is using your blog in these days to keep us apprised of what is happening. I truly believe that for the past several years he has used blogs like yours to keep his followers informed because not all of us have the gift of discernment like you do. There are others out there, of course, but for God’s own reasons those blogs have changed direction and God is using them now in different ways. We all need to not only pray for Jerusalem but we need to cover Prime Minister Netanyahu with prayer every day for he has been given a place in history like few other people in scripture.

Very interesting, and it will be interesting to see what happens tomorrow on the 9th.
Curious: How you do consistently get “3 days later” from Av 7 as being Av 9?
One day later is Av 8, two days later is Av 9. Three days later would be Av 10.
Also, it is actually tonight (tomorrow evening their time) that 9 Av begins in Israel, which will be around mid-day in the US time zones. It’s really less than a day away, if I’ve read time/date sources correctly.

[Hi Jay, good question! When I was doing research on Av 7 and Av 9, the period between the two was always referred to as three days. Since I am no scholar, I defer to those who are. It all has to do with the Jewish reckoning of time; even a fraction of a day is counted as a full day, that is why, we say that Jesus was in the tomb three days. By our standards, we would not call it three days, but, by Jewish standards, you would. Same thing with Av 7 – 9. C]

After greater analysis of the dream I posted from the above web site and the receipt of an E-Mail warning I just received, I no longer believe that the above web site is of the Lord. The E-Mail I received talks about possible devastation coming to our country on 9/11 – but from an outside source – rather than what I believe will be the true source – the Hand of our Lord via Comet Elenin/ Nemesis/ asteroid.

is it just me, but i kept waiting for you to mention the name “netanya” in connection with the prime minister also… that name even more than benyamina spoke to me of the prime minister, netanyahu… is there any connection?

And, of course the name like Binyamina is a strong reference I believe to the Prime Minister. sorry, i guess i just wasn’t quite done yet…. but i am being led more and more to believing that we are beginning to see a major turning of our attention and focus off the u.s. and onto israel.. i get the sense that in the days to come, more and more of the headline news will be coming from israel and focusing on israel. it is my belief that the ‘times of the gentiles’ (which i know pastors have been preaching for decades is over) is now REALLY over, and that as we “decrease,” they will “increase” (not intending to usurp the meaning away from the LORD). our “demise” will be big news, but i can’t help but think that even greater news will cause our troubles to pale in comparison. what do you think?

Cindy, I love how the Holy Spirit gives insight in different ways yet it all confirms and ties things together. When I read that the name Benjamin means “son of my right hand” it jumped out at me as I had just posted an article on Bible typology and made reference to the phrase “right hand”. Names are declarations and the phrase “right hand” is a reference to Jesus, who is at the right hand of the Father! Also, did you know Moses also spoke a blessing over the tribes of Israel? Here’s what he said about Benjamin.
Deuteronomy 33:12
And of Benjamin he said, The beloved of the LORD shall dwell in safety by him; and the LORD shall cover him all the day long, and he shall dwell between his shoulders.
Very soon all these things will be fulfilled regarding Israel and as things continue to heat up for them, Jesus Himself will defend them and they will turn to Him for salvation!

During all of my studies – reading the Word – studying numbers in Gematria (at which I am a total novice) – I am always scratching my head. What keeps surfacing in my mind is that it appears to me that our Lord is coming back in hidden form.
“The day of the Lord is darkness – not light.”
The BIble talks about how the Lord came as the Savior the first time,
but will be return as “The Destroyer” the second time.
I see the Lord’s hand “over” Joel 2 which talks about “The Army of the Lord.”
The Word repeatedly refers to the Lord returning “as a thief” [hidden].
I believe that when we see Him, we will be shocked. I am also wondering if this being “of light” that is described in this dream – is actually the true Jesus – sending those that are not His into an instant death with no escape – but freedom and “escape” for those that are His, cloaked in a fog of darkness. There are references to the “light” shining in the darkness in many scripture verses.

wow, i seem to be doing a lot of disagreeing today, and i don’t mean to be “disagreeable,” honestly i don’t, but i must disagree with the major premise in the above comment. while i, too, believe that the wrath of God will primarily be with cause and effect that only He could be responsible for, we must now cherry pick our verses to agree with our personal “beliefs.” the whole of scripture must be considered, and it is one of the reasons that i personally find it very difficult to make grand pronouncements about what is coming. the LORD has released the four horsemen, one of which is war. zecharaian 14 describes what can only be understood (at this point in our time and history) as the effects of nuclear blast, skin falling off while men stand, eyeballs rotting in their sockets, (not my words, but scriptures), ezekiel 38 still to be fulfilled, etc. etc. while i still pray, ponder and consider, waiting for further from the Holy Spirit, i am following carefully the coming of this celestial object so many are describing of late, but since i have not seen the fulfillment of so much of the scriptures as they refer to Israel, i do not see this as an E.L.E. that many are making it out to be. millions killed? quite possibly. poles shifted? maybe. nuclear warfare on cities? yes, why not? revelation 18 talks about the destruction of a great “city” in one hour. why not nuclear devastation? i do not believe anything can be ruled out entirely at this point. very much enjoy the comments, tho. and the blog site! thanks!

It’s okay to disagree – none of us have the entire puzzle figured out – and we each learn a LOT from the views of others (me at the top of the list).
These are all my personal viewpoints and I am the first to say that I am not always right – I told Cindy that I sometimes feel like a dog “on scent” – I may be on track but not always “there” yet.

I added a reply to an earlier comment I made wherein I stated that I did not believe my evaluation was correct (it is either above or in a prior article). There are now warnings coming out stating that our government is getting ready for attacks from outsiders on many of our cities. I believe there are attacks coming, but from God because of our stand on Israel and our willingness to chase after idols made with hands. The above BIble Codes explain (to me) what can be expected. There is another Bible Code I did not list that explains that this “mix” of bodies is surrounded by “red dust” – which will cause the moon to appear red and the water to turn to blood (just like in the Egypt Exodus).
