a message in a fish

   Dead fish, King Harbor, CA
On Tuesday March 8, residents of Redondo Beach, CA woke to the incredible sight and over-whelming stench of hundreds of thousands of dead fish (primarily sardines) choking their local harbor.  No one was exactly sure at the time as to what had caused their demise, but, it would be just one in a  series of odd and similar events involving bird and fish deaths since the beginning of the year. Three days after the King Harbor incident a  powerful and deadly earthquake struck the Honshu region of Japan killing thousands of people and leaving millions more displaced and in danger of radioactive fallout.  Coincidence?  If it is, then, the 100 Pilot Whales who died by stranding themselves on a beach in southern New Zealand just hours before the deadly Christchurch Earthquake was a very strange coincidence as well.
As most of you know, I like word studies and often find interesting connections to events through words.  So I googled the word Sardines. Sardines to me, were the bony little fish my dad used to take in his lunch every now and then. Dripping in mustard sauce and oil, he would place them on a cracker, eating them right out of the can.  He thought they were a fine treat and often tried to convince me of the same, needless to say, to this day, I remain unconvinced!  Anyway, beyond “sardines in a can”, I didn’t know much!   And, still don’t –  for as soon as I went to Wikipedia, the first thing I read about sardines is that their name originated with the Mediterranean island of Sardis.  After reading that, I knew I need read no further.  I had found what I was looking for.   Jesus had written a letter to the church at Sardis.  All I wanted to do now, was read what he had said.
 Revelation chapter 3:
To the Angel of the church of Sardis write:
These are the words of him who holds the seven spirits of God and the seven stars. I know your deeds and you have a reputation of being alive, but, you are dead. Wake up! Strengthen what remains and is about to die, for I have not found your deeds complete in the sight of God.  Remember what you have received and heard; obey it and repent. But, if you do not wake up, I will come like a thief and you will not know at what time I will come to you.  You have a few people in Sardis who have not soiled their clothes.  They will walk with me dressed in white for they are worthy.  He who overcomes will like them be dressed in white, I will never blot out his name from the book of life, but will acknowledge his name before my Father and his angels.  He who has an ear, let him hear ….”
Dead fish (Sardines) – King Harbor – Sendai (Sin-die ????)  Makes one think, doesn’t it?  Could it be that Jesus has given us a message in a fish to awaken us to our spiritual condition?
This Saturday March 19 will be a Supermoon. There are some that think this cosmic event could trigger another earthquake, volcanic activity or other natural disasters.  According to a geologist interviewed by Neal Cavuto on Fox News, this may very well be the case.   Thanks to Jo P for her post on Five Doves today regarding this interview, if you missed it, here’s the link- (takes a few moments to load, but, its at the top of the page) –
As you will see from the video, the Chilean earthquake, the New Zealand earthquake and the Japan earthquake progress around what is known as the Pacific Ring of Fire – if the pattern continues as follows, the Pacific West Coast could likely be the next region hit by a big  quake. If that should happen, the devastation would be unthinkable.  Bear in mind the  March 11 earthquake in Japan came exactly one year after Japan badgered Israel in regard to the settlements on the West Bank and March 19 comes just about one full year as well from the verbal lashing Hillary Clinton gave Prime Minister Netanyahu over the same issue. In my opinion, the time for serious repentance is now!  There may not be much time left.
Thank you to all of you who prayed for me and wished me well while I was away, I really appreciate it.   Blessings to all of you!

And, as always, “Pray for the peace of Jersualem, they shall prosper who love thee”  Psalm 122:6     Watching and waiting with YOU for the soon return of Jesus!  Cindy

  1. Blessings Cindy!

    Purim (March 19th) “Lot or Fate Reversed” starts a period of repentance. Beginning with the fast of Esther “hidden” leading to Passover/First Fruits.

    –Supermoon March 19th
    –Passover April 18 – Moon-Spica 00:04 – Full Moon 04:44
    –Firstfruits Sunday 24th (Same as Orthodox Easter)

    Let’s see… what happened on First Fruits?

    1. Jesus was resurrected on Sunday morning Nisan 17.

    2. Noah’s Flood Ended: Gen. 8:4. Note that the seventh month was later designated as the first month at the time of the Exodus (Ex. 12:2)

    3. The Wave Sheaf offering was made at the Mishkan (and later, at the Temple). This was the first fruit of the Spring barley harvest.

    4. Haman was hanged. According to various Jewish authorities, the villain Haman was hanged on the gallows he had specifically prepared for Mordechai the Jew on this date.

    5. in 1491 BC. Israel physically left the land of Egypt on the seventeenth day of Nisan/Abib.

    6. Abram’s departure from Haran was precisely 430 years earlier on the seventeenth day of Nisan/Abib.

    7. Ruth left her home to follow Naomi to Bethlehem.

    And just as He is our Firstfruits, so “He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of first fruits of all he created” (James 1:18).

    Barley Harvest = Church = Passover to Pentecost
    Wheat Harvest = Jacobs Trouble = Pentecost to Tu B’Av
    Grape Harvest = Judgment of Nations = Tu B’Av to Yom Teruyah

    First Fruits Rain and Rapture,
    Jacobs Trouble,

    Watch and pray.

    [ Thank you Michael for all the great information! So interesting, when you consider all the implications of the various harvests. Thank you too for the chart you provided – leads me to believe the barley harvest is very, very soon – may be this year! Watching and praying with you. C]

  2. “Sendai (Sin-die ????)”
    Apparently Sendai means “a thousand generations” used biblically in 1st Chron 16:15, Psalm 105:8, Deut 7:9) and has to do with a Buddhist temple that used to be located there.

    “Bear in mind the March 11 earthquake in Japan came exactly one year after Japan badgered Israel in regard to the settlements on the West Bank”
    Koenig has a handy list here including more recent official anti-Israel/settlement statements by Japan:

    God bless!

    [ Thanks Jay for pointing out the connection of Sendai (thousand generations) to the beautiful portion of scripture Jeff so kindly re-printed for us here. I had heard that the meaning of Sendai was “thousand generations” but, did not make the connection – was working off a strictly phonetic interpretation. Blessings! C ]

    • oops, lost the opening parenthesis before this part, which was separate from the actual meaning of Sendai: “(used biblically in 1st Chron 16:15, Psalm 105:8, Deut 7:9)”

  3. The passage that Jay referenced in his comment 1 chronicles 16:15 actually falls in the midst of a Psalm of David’s as follows:
    David’s Song of Thanksgiving

    7 On that day David first delivered this psalm into the hand of Asaph and his brethren, to thank the LORD:

    8 Oh, give thanks to the LORD!
    Call upon His name;
    Make known His deeds among the peoples!

    9 Sing to Him, sing psalms to Him;
    Talk of all His wondrous works!

    10 Glory in His holy name;
    Let the hearts of those rejoice who seek the LORD!

    11 Seek the LORD and His strength;
    Seek His face evermore!

    12 Remember His marvelous works which He has done,
    His wonders, and the judgments of His mouth,

    13 O seed of Israel His servant,
    You children of Jacob, His chosen ones!

    14 He is the LORD our God;
    His judgments are in all the earth.

    15 Remember His covenant forever,
    The word which He commanded, for a thousand generations,

    16 The covenant which He made with Abraham,
    And His oath to Isaac,

    17 And confirmed it to Jacob for a statute,
    To Israel for an everlasting covenant,

    18 Saying, “To you I will give the land of Canaan
    As the allotment of your inheritance,”

    19 When you were few in number,
    Indeed very few, and strangers in it.

    20 When they went from one nation to another,
    And from one kingdom to another people,

    21 He permitted no man to do them wrong;
    Yes, He rebuked kings for their sakes,

    22 Saying, “Do not touch My anointed ones,
    And do My prophets no harm.”

    23 Sing to the LORD, all the earth;
    Proclaim the good news of His salvation from day to day.

    24 Declare His glory among the nations,
    His wonders among all peoples.

    25 For the LORD is great and greatly to be praised;
    He is also to be feared above all gods.

    26 For all the gods of the peoples are idols,
    But the LORD made the heavens.

    27 Honor and majesty are before Him;
    Strength and gladness are in His place.

    28 Give to the LORD, O families of the peoples,
    Give to the LORD glory and strength.

    29 Give to the LORD the glory due His name;
    Bring an offering, and come before Him.
    Oh, worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness!

    30 Tremble before Him, all the earth.
    The world also is firmly established,
    It shall not be moved.

    31 Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad;
    And let them say among the nations, “The LORD reigns.”

    32 Let the sea roar, and all its fullness;
    Let the field rejoice, and all that is in it.

    33 Then the trees of the woods shall rejoice before the LORD,
    For He is coming to judge the earth.

    34 Oh, give thanks to the LORD, for He is good!
    For His mercy endures forever.

    35 And say, “Save us, O God of our salvation;
    Gather us together, and deliver us from the Gentiles,
    To give thanks to Your holy name,
    To triumph in Your praise.”

    36 Blessed be the LORD God of Israel
    From everlasting to everlasting!

    And all the people said, “Amen!” and praised the LORD.

    Isn’t the richness and fullness of God’s Word amazing!
    Thank-you Jay for leading me to that passage that has a time appropriate message for today.
    Thank-you God for sending the message.

  6. This Just In – Pastor David Wilkerson Alarm

    Today Pastor and Watchman David Wilkerson has sent out an URGENT MESSAGE. I post it from Wilkerson’s blogspot:

    DW is listened to and read by thousands around the world. He would not release this ‘word’ unless compelled by the Holy Spirit. We have confirmation on this blog that the time to prepare is NOW. The prophets and watchmen agree. Watch and pray and prepare as God leads you.”

    {Message from David Wilkerson follows] –

    “Saturday, March 7, 2009

    I am compelled by the Holy Spirit to send out an urgent message to all on our mailing list, and to friends and to bishops we have met all over the world.

    For ten years I have been warning about a thousand fires coming to New York City. It will engulf the whole megaplex, including areas of New Jersey and Connecticut. Major cities all across America will experience riots and blazing fires—such as we saw in Watts, Los Angeles, years ago.

    There will be riots and fires in cities worldwide. There will be looting—including Times Square, New York City. What we are experiencing now is not a recession, not even a depression. We are under God’s wrath. In Psalm 11 it is written,

    “If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?” (v. 3).

    God is judging the raging sins of America and the nations. He is destroying the secular foundations.

    The prophet Jeremiah pleaded with wicked Israel, “God is fashioning a calamity against you and devising a plan against you. Oh, turn back each of you from your evil way, and reform your ways and deeds. But they will say, It’s hopeless! For we are going to follow our own plans, and each of us will act according to the stubbornness of his evil heart” (Jeremiah 18:11-12).

    In Psalm 11:6, David warns, “Upon the wicked he will rain snares (coals of fire)…fire…burning wind…will be the portion of their cup.” Why? David answered, “Because the Lord is righteous” (v. 7). This is a righteous judgment—just as in the judgments of Sodom and in Noah’s generation.

    First, I give you a practical word I received for my own direction. If possible lay in store a thirty-day supply of non-perishable food, toiletries and other essentials. In major cities, grocery stores are emptied in an hour at the sign of an impending disaster.

    As for our spiritual reaction, we have but two options. This is outlined in Psalm 11. We “flee like a bird to a mountain.” Or, as David says, “He fixed his eyes on the Lord on his throne in heaven—his eyes beholding, his eyelids testing the sons of men” (v. 4). “In the Lord I take refuge” (v. 1).

    I will say to my soul: No need to run…no need to hide. This is God’s righteous work. I will behold our Lord on his throne, with his eye of tender, loving kindness watching over every step I take—trusting that he will deliver his people even through floods, fires, calamities, tests, trials of all kinds.

    Note: I do not know when these things will come to pass, but I know it is not far off. I have unburdened my soul to you. Do with the message as you choose.

    God bless and keep you,

    In Christ,

  7. I have been listening to Pastor David Wilkerson’s prophetic sermons from the 70’s through the 90’s…

    Unless I am missing something his position is thus…

    •Earthquake in Japan.
    •Economic Crisis involving Germany.
    •The United States is hit by disaster.
    •The US economy is destroyed.
    •Russia attacks the US after economic collapse.

    Todays news…”The High Price of Merkel’s Nuclear About-Face”
    The Germans just locked down seven reactors.,1518,751245,00.html
    Energy = Work, Less work applied to a system = Less production.
    You can see where this is going…

    I can find no reason to believe Wilkerson is incorrect, also as yet I have found nothing he has said to be in conflict with Scripture.

    The second coming of Christ – David Wilkerson

    Interesting days…

  8. Dear David,

    You ask What can the righteous do? Ps 11:3….well, go to the next few verses and rejoice, give thanks and sing!
