Thank you to all of you for your patience while my computer was being restored. It’s great having it back and having the opportunity to share with all of you once again.
I want to focus your attention today on a blog that was forwarded to me recently by my dear friend at Running from Babylon. The post sent to me was one by Mr. William Frederick at End Times Forecaster. I thought it was very interesting, well written and one worth delving into a little deeper. It is the premise of Mr. Frederick’s post that Phoenix, Arizona could very well be the site of a destructive incident such as an EMP or a nuclear detonation by those who seek the destruction of the United States with the specific goal for bringing about a new world order.
To give myself a little background on the subject, one of the first things I did was to google the history of the city of Phoenix. It was interesting to find out that the name of the city originated with an Englishman who had settled in the area in 1868, a man by the name of Phillip Darrell Duppa.
According to Wikipedia, Phillip Darrell Duppa, later known as Lord Darrell Duppa was born in Kent England in 1832. An educated man, he attended Cambridge University, where he was fluent in 5 languages and was well studied in the classics. It was he who gave the city of Phoenix its name, envisioning through a series of irrigation canals the re-birth of the arid landscape from one of desert to one of flourishing farm land and communities.
He also named Tempe (a outlaying area at the time, which is today a suburb of Phoenix) for the Vale of Tempe in Greece, a placed celebrated by greek poets as a favorite haunt for Apollo and the Muses and where a temple to Apollo once stood. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phillip_Darrell_Duppa – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vale_of_Tempe
When I came across this information, I was really quite startled. I had no idea that the name Tempe would have a direct link to the god Apollo. When you consider the name Phoenix (something which rises up out of the ashes of destruction) and the idea proposed in the book Apollyon Rising, by Dr. Tom Horn, for the return of Apollo, it really becomes quite interesting. Add to that the latitude and longitude of these great American cities as they lie due West of Washington DC (Phoenix at 33.448 N – 112.074 W and Tempe at 33.414 N – 111.908 W) and it really becomes quite compelling. Keep in mind, when the nations capital was designed in 1791, these cities didn’t even exist! It would be a full 77 years later before the names would be applied.
At the top of the page is the image of a griffin. A griffin is a mythological creature with the body of a lion and the head of an eagle and is closely associated with the god Apollo. In greek mythology, it is a griffin which pulls the chariot of Apollo. Interesting when you consider Daniels vision of the four beasts that rise up out of the sea. Consider the first beast as it is described in chapter 7 vs. 4 –
“The first was like a lion, and it had the wings of an eagle. I watched until the wings were torn off and it was lifted from the ground so that it stood on two feet like a man, and the heart of a man was given to it.”
According to my Bible notes, this first beast represents the neo-Babylonian empire of 626 B.C. But, I have to wonder, could it also apply to a future kingdom ??? One which is Babylon like in nature, born of a Lion (England) and whose wings are torn off (indicating separation), thus, standing independently (as in American independence ??) on its own two feet?
If this is so, this beast along with two others must give way for a fourth and more terrifying beast.
When you look at the history of the Vale of Tempe in Greece, you will find it was the scene of some very important battles. The Vale of Tempe is the ancient name of a gorge located in northern Greece through which the river Pineous runs – situated between Olympus to the North and Ossa to the South, it was a strategic path from the mountains to the coast and thus the site of many conflicts.
When you think about it, Arizona with its border problems and the gruesome discovery of a man who had been beheaded in one of its suburbs on October 10, it is certainly becoming a site of conflict as well. A shocking indication, if nothing else of the intensity of the battle in which we are presently engaged. An apparent victim of the ruthless drug cartels operating across the border out of Mexico, the beheading of this immigrant man is a horrifying indication of the fearlessness of these gangs for exporting their own particular brand of terror to the United States. A griffin is considered by many to be similar to a cherub – of the fallen sort. John Milton in Paradise Lost refers to the griffin (gryphon) in his description of Satan.

The prince of this world has long desired to unite the world under his leadership. What God thwarted at the tower of Babel, the enemy put on hold for future use. In one final super-human effort, that fallen cherub, in his pride and rebellion will seek to wrest from God control of this world for the worship and souls of men, – BUT, he is utterly doomed to fail. Amazing how sin and rebellion blind can blind!
Is judgment coming to the United States? Will places like Phoenix and Tempe be one of the first to feel its sting? Or will it be somewhere else -the place where you and I live perhaps? Only God knows for sure; the question for us is – are we ready?

Note that Damascus, Syria — a city explicitly doomed in scripture to be ‘wiped off the map’ in the end times (see Isaiah 17 and Jeremiah 49) — lies at 33.513N, 36.292E the same latitude as the visual center of the entire Phoenix, Glendale, Scottsdale, Chandler, Tempe mega-sprawl (i.e., more central to the area’s population than the official downtown of the city of Phoenix by itself). Mr. Frederick should know that Phoenix is one of the most insignificant cities in the country and if it was totally destroyed it would not affect anything. It is not the center nor important for banking, research, energy, …nothing. The only thing destroying it would do is stop McCain from being re elected senator and for what he’s done for this state….no loss there. On second thought an EMP would be good b/c it would interrupt the casino slot machines and all the local kids texting.

Hmmm…”one of the most insignificant cities”….wasn’t that Jerusalem’s status until the divine timing called for it to move [back] into world wide prominence? And while I would not say Phoenix was ever prominent per se, in the last year, has not Arizona as a state [with Phoenix being the primary city thereof] become the focal point for “attacks” by other nations via their new immigration law and the federal lawsuit against it – a lawsuit which now has 10 other S. Am. countries being allowed to submit opinion briefs to the U.S. 9th Circuit Courts – against Arizona?
I can certainly see a case being made for Arizona/Phoenix, on a spiritual as well as on a physical level, representing both the divisions with the U.S. and the point position of an attack. It seems to me that an attack there would have a far greater impact on the nation as a whole than you are acknowledging.
P.S. And since my sister, brother and mother all live down in Arizona, personally, I’m praying hard for a divine “bugout” soonest! 🙂

Hi Engineer, welcome and thanks for writing! A lot of study has been done and much has been written on the identities of the beast from Revelation 13. And, while I’ve read a great deal on this subject, I can’t say that I have done an exhaustive study on it. I learned long ago, that when trying to understand symbolism, it is helpful to keep in mind, that the Bible often provides the interpretation for us, so, when that is the case, we really don’t have to go looking any further. In other words, keep it simple.
Some believe the beast who rises up out of the sea is a person – others believe it is a political system. Some believe the beast who rises out of the earth is a religious system.
I can’t really answer that for you, but, I am more or less convinced that the woman who rides the beast (mystery Babylon/the harlot) is the United States. If this is so,the question then is – who or what is the beast she is riding? What does it hate her? What will it do to destroy her? My guess is that the woman has been using the beast for her own gain – but, this is a dangerous game and in the end, the beast will destroy her. Is the beast that rises out of the sea, the new world order? Whoever this beast out of the sea is – the woman or harlot of Revelation 17 rides this beast – but, the beast hates her and seeks to destroy her. I’m fairly convinced that the woman (mystery Babylon is the United States) and if so, the question is – who or what is the beast she is riding? Might it be the new world order? Once the woman is out of the way, the first beast (new world order – perhaps represented by one individual who heads it up) – the second beast enforces the worship of. –
My two cents worth since you asked – not sure how well it ties together – a few random thoughts anyway. Keep studying and keep praying! We’ll either be in heaven before we need to know the answer or God will reveal it to us in due time. Grace and blessings, Cindy

Hi Liam, Thanks for writing! My opinion on 2011? I think its going to be a high impact year in terms of politics, the economy, weather, terrorism and other natural disasters. Many believe (and I agree) that the Psalm 83 or Ezekiel 38,39 war may very well start by the end of this year or shortly after the new one begins. Once this happens the political structure in the middle east will be greatlly altered from what it is now and will have world wide impact. I wouldn’t be suprised at all if a UFO incident figures in somehow – (the best fit in my opinion for the great deception). And, I think with all the turmoil that lies ahead that people will become very anxious as we approach 2012 – wondering if indeed the world is going to end. My prayer is that the rapture is just around the corner – but, until then – people are in desperate need of the saving grace of Jesus – so, we have work to do. 2011???? – Hold tight to your seat, its going to be a very bumpy ride! Phoenix insignificant? A quick look at wikipedia might suggest otherwise.
Just 45 miles west of downtown Phoenix lies the PALO VERDE Nuclear power facility. . . The plant is a major source of power for Phoenix and Southern California, capable of serving about 4 million people. . . Due to its location in the Arizona desert, Palo Verde is the only nuclear generating facility in the world that is not located adjacent to a large body of above-ground water. The facility evaporates water from the treated sewage of several nearby municipalities to meet its cooling needs. 20 billion US gallons (76,000,000 m³) of treated water are evaporated each year. . . Palo Verde was of such strategic importance, due to a variety of its features, that it and Phoenix were documented by the former Soviet Union as target locations in the event of nuclear conflict during the Cold War. In March 2003, National Guard troops were dispatched to protect the site during the launch of the Iraq war amidst fears of a terrorist attack. . . In an Arizona Republic article dated February 22, 2007, it was announced that the Nuclear Regulatory Commission had decided to place Palo Verde into Category 4, making it one of the most closely monitored nuclear power plants in the United States. . . The selection of the present site for Palo Verde was controversial. Critics claim that the site was not the first choice because it was in the middle of nowhere, had no water supply, and because of the prevailing westerly winds, put the Phoenix-Metro area into jeopardy in the event of a major accident. –excerpts from wikipedia
Palo Verde does not even have to have a direct attack on it in order for its operations to be endangered. Palo Verde relies on waste water from Phoenix for its cooling needs. Take out Phoenix — no waste water — Palo Verde shuts down to prevent a major nuclear event. Look at how many in Arizona and California are without electricity IMMEDIATELY.
OR worse, if Phoenix were taken out and no waste water flowed to PV and PV couldn’t shut down quickly, could the southwest have its own version of Chernobyl? The result would be deadly ash in addition to no electricity.
Dire either way and either scenario’s outcome would be a terrorist’s dream come true. I agree that Phoenix may be insignificant on the overall political landscape, but civilian wise I would find it difficult to argue that Phoenix is insignificant.

A few thoughts to all; No place is insignificant. I believe a nuclear bomb set off anywhere in this country would immediately throw us into 3rd world conditions–bank runs, food shortages, hyperinflation, dollar collapse, martial law, internet shutdown, etc.
I have become aware of a YouTube video discussing the possibility of a false flag nuclear attack in November. If you watch the video it shows a nuclear detonation occuring out West–to the right of the explosion you can see Western rock formations. The explosion was also centered between 2 roads that form a “V”–Phoenix is centered between the “V” in Washington D.C. formed at the Capital building.

I remember hearing a couple of weeks ago that our president had turned Arizona into the united nations human rights commission in regards to its stand on illegal aliens. And I do believe that the Obama administration has had some disagreement about its sovereign right as a state to protect its borders. Another ” reason” why it might be Arizona.
