the tipping point

   the sword of Islam

In 1148 AD, a young Jewish man and his family, under the threat of forced conversion to Islam or death, fled the city in which he had been born on the eve of Passover 1135, the Spanish city of Cordoba.  The young man whose life and faith were spared by fleeing the city was Moses Maimonides, a young man who would later grow up to become one of Judaism’s most revered and respected scholars.  Maimonides is famous for his writings on Jewish law and ethics and for his summarization of the central tenants of Judaism known as “the thirteen principles of the faith”.   How much young Moses was impacted by his early years in Cordoba may or may not be known, but, it is impossible to believe these early years living under Islamic persecution would not have had an impact on this budding young scholar.  When Moses and his family left Cordoba, he was 13 years of age; Bar Mitzvah age,  the age at which a young man is expected to know and be accountable to the law of God.

Cordoba, or Qurtuba (as it was known in Arabic), is a city in the southern most part of Spain known as Andalusia – both of which made news this week:

 1) Mrs Obama and daughter Sasha traveled to a luxury resort in Marbella, Spain in the region of Andalusia this past week for yet another vacation – the details of which you can read here if you like: )

 2)  Cordoba in the same region of Andalusia; the namesake for the Islamic Mosque which will be built adjacent to ground-zero next year as announced this week by NYC Mayor Bloomberg.

*In an announcement made August 3, it became official; the Islamic Mosque and Cultural Center will be built, the tentative date for its opening set for Sept. 11, 2011.  Flanked by ten leaders of various religions, Mayor Bloomberg had this to say in the course of his announcement:

“Whatever you may think of the proposed mosque and community center, lost in the heat of the debate has been a basic question: Should government attempt to deny private citizens the right to build a house of worship on private property based on their particular religion? That may happen in other countries, but we should never allow it to happen here  ….”

I encourage you to take time to read the speech in its entirety. I think the Mayor makes an important point and one that on the surface is difficult to refute. It is true, our constitution allows freedom of religion for all, not just for those we agree with. Yet as sound as his arguments may appear on the surface, they are flawed.  It is important for those of us who oppose the building of the Islamic Center and Mosque to understand why;  it is not simply a matter of outrage, though, outrage is something we are certainly entitled to, but, it goes beyond than that.  I think if we look closely, the most obvious reason can be found in the last lines of Mayor Bloomberg’s very own speech.

“Political controversies come and go, but, our values and traditions endure and there is no neighborhood in this city that is off-limits to God’s love and mercy as the religious leaders here with us can attest”.

The 13 story Mosque and Islamic Center which will be known as Cordoba House will be built two blocks from ground-zero and is being funded by the Cordoba Initiative.  Who or what is the Cordoba Initiative? Glad you asked!  The Cordoba Initiative is a group associated with CAIR International, the Council on American Islamic Relations who supposedly seek to improve Muslim-West relations. If you go to their website, you will see this statement prominently displayed.

“Cordoba Initiative aims to achieve a tipping point in Muslim-West relations within the next decade, steering the world back to the course of mutual recognition and respect and away from heightened tensions.”

Steering the world back???   Excuse me, but, we didn’t initiate this!  This statement in my opinion, is nothing more than finely oiled words by which the more gullible among us might more easily swallow the sword of Islam.

To put this in perspective and to understand it more fully, we have to go back to the history of Cordoba, Spain.  Cordoba is being lauded by the Cordoba Initiative and those who affirm the building of this Mosque as the model for a period of time in which Moslem, Christian and Jewish people lived and worked together in an atmosphere of tolerance.  But, was this really the case?

On researching the history of the region and the city of Cordoba, it appears, that there was a four hundred year period during which Jews were allowed to live and work under a moderate Islamic rule. This short-lived period of so-called tolerance ended in 1055, when Islamic  fundamentalism swept into the area. (For a history of the Jews in Islamic Spain, click here:

To sum it up, moderate Islam can never escape fundamentalist Islam, for the very tenants of Islam call for death to infidels and Islamic superiority over all others. For this reason, there really is no such thing as moderate Islam.  The fruit of Islam is and always will be fundamentalism, and fundamentalism in its purest form will always produce tyranny, oppression and hate  – and for those who wish it to be otherwise, it is simply that – wishful thinking.

I believe that Maimonides, though not a believer in Yeshua, was used by God to help establish the firm foundation of the Jewish scripture and on whose shoulders the tenants of Judaism were carried into the future.  We have to remember, God is not yet finished with Israel; his calling and his covenant are irrevocable.  It’s impossible therefore to minimize the impact that living under Islamic persecution contributed to the life and writings of this scholar. For a history of Maimonides and his thirteen articles of faith, click here:

Conversely, the Mayor of New York City, refers to a God of mercy and love, yet advocates the building of a structure in honor of a religion which is completely void of either of those concepts; love or mercy  – something which was powerfully demonstrated in the events of 9/11 and is demonstrated daily in the lives of those around the world who live every day in oppression at the tip of the Islamic sword.

America, we have reached the tipping point; unfortunately, for most, by the time the time we wake up to this fact, it will be too late.  Our sins have reached heaven and God has turned us over to our enemies – we have only to listen for the voice of the muezzin as it wafts across the gaping hole of ground-zero, calling the Islamic faithful to prayer five time daily, to know that this is so.

“Pray for the peace of Jerusalem, they shall prosper who love thee:  Psalm 122:6   Watching and waiting with YOU for the soon return of Jesus!  Cindy

  1. Cindy, I understand everything that you are saying here, but my concern is that if we stop the mosque from being built on private property in a country that believes in religious freedom, we may be next. They may deny us the privilege of building a church if they deem that we are using hate speech in our pulpits when we criticize sanctioned sins such as abortion and gay sex. I’m not crazy about the whole thing but I have to agree with Mayor Bloomberg on this one.

    • Hi Robert, Thanks for taking the time to weigh in on the subject. I really appreciate your comment. As I mentioned in my post, Mayor Bloomberg’s argument is a hard one to refute. The freedom to build a mosque is not what is in question here, but, rather the location at which it will be built. The selection of ground-zero for building the Cordoba Mosque is not an innocous one. It is a symbol of triumph cloaked under the auspices of tolerance which true Islam neither teaches nor follows. And as far as losing the privileges we have for building churches and excercising free speech, the door on that one is already closing, appeasing our enemies will do nothing to change that. Given the unique situation of 9/11, I don’t believe saying no to a mosque at ground-zero would be a violation of anyone’s religious freedom. In my opinion, the land at ground-zero and in the immediate vicinity should have been purchased for building a monument to all Americans who died that day – no private parties involved. Problem solved. Grace and blessings to you brother, differing opinions are welcome here, thanks for sharing yours so graciously. Cindy

  3. Thanks Cindy!

What an excellent post! I look forward to them.

I have been in Europe for several years now, and can attest the Islamification program is going full force.

Most people who believe in a peaceful culture of tolerance will be pretty surprised when sharia law comes in to play. Go ahead and Google it. Cutting of noses, hands, and heads of those they call criminals. In Revelation there is a large group in white robes that were beheaded by the Antichrist. One doesn’t have to look too far to find a component of our culture that will be swinging the sword. Joel Richardson has a pretty intensive study on this matter.

There is hope, many Muslims have repented of their false doctrine and turned to Christ Jesus the Messiah the Son of God for their salvation. But for the others there is little reason to be optimistic..

It is impossible but that offences will come: but woe unto him, through whom they come! Luke 17:1

I believe the time is short. Just as it is written there are signs in the heavens and on earth the distress of Nations.

We can now all anticipate the imminent return of our soon coming King.

  4. Cindy,

I have an article with pictures that compliments your latest post. I received it as an email—- I will foward it to you if you wish. I just need your email address.

    • Hi John, Thanks for writing, I will email you. Cindy

  5. A note to my readers:
From today’s headlines, apparently the debate to allow the building of mosques (not just the one at ground zero) has spilled over to main-stream America.
Without a doubt, we are entering a period in American history when the foundations on which this country was established is being tested. These two issues: 1) Religious freedom 2) who has the right to marry – is going to affect each one of us – putting our own faith and values to the test.
As we face these issues, it is IMPERATIVE to remember to speak the truth in love – exercising grace and mercy to individuals caught up in these systems. (More of this perhaps next blog)
***Also, please be aware that time limits me from being able to extensively check out links sent to me by readers, read them at your discretion.
Grace and blessings to all of you! Stay in prayer, keep your eyes focused on Jesus! Cindy

  6. We can oppose this all we want (and I do, with a passion bordering on agony) but one of the larger questions we need to ask is why God (the only real one, Yahweh) is allowing this to happen.

And to answer that, I keep coming back to 2nd Thessalonians 2:9-12

“The coming of the lawless one is by the activity of Satan with all power and false signs and wonders, and with all wicked deception for those who are perishing, because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. Therefore God sends them a strong delusion, so that they may believe what is false, in order that all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness. “

They REFUSED to LOVE the TRUTH.

We’d like to think that the American Constitution and its principles will set us free, and they have, from many things. But we forget that it has been largely abandoned. (Kagan’s confirmation should make that even plainer).

Even in the heyday of Constitutional reverence, however, it was merely the best attempt to date at enlightened government, not Truth itself. The American Constitution cannot be the antidote to the scourge of the encroaching Caliphate. The American Constitution is the best we’ve had so far in terms of worldly government, but it is not, itself, TRUTH, much less TRUTH-made-flesh.

The Constitution was never as firmly rooted in the Triune God of scripture as many imagine, but in an inexplicit ‘God’ subject to interpretation and misuse by Islam and a scripture-illiterate public. It is Christian-inspired in many ways (though not all). It is not Christ.

To the degree that our hope is in Christ, we can see this in the proper perspective. To the degree that our hope remains in the Constitution, we are doomed to feel the angst of divided loyalties to a country that God is in the process of judging. The camel of Islam has stuck its nose, head, neck and shoulders under the American tent. It is in the process of standing up. We should not imagine that God is not allowing this. He will deal with them later. He is using them to deal with us and our myriad sins now.

When numerous politicians began quoting Isaiah 9 shortly after 9-11, not recognizing it was a text of judgment, it was not hard to see something like this mosque coming, eventually.

The question of fundamentalism always begs the question of truth. I.e., fundamentals of what? So long as Islam is seen as just another relativistic flavor of ice-cream among many religions that are just a matter of shifting opinion and personal preference, Christian Biblical fundamentals will have to get in line with whatever other fundamentals happen to be in fashion.

    • Thanks Art for adding your insight and wisdom to this discussion. Your sage advice and discernment is always greatly appreciated! Cindy

    • Well said, Art.

  7. Both of you, Cindy and Art, are spot on. You have your basic, fundamental, straight to the core undeniable Truth (Jesus Christ)…and you have your traveling carnival loud barker-type the-more-I-say-then-it-it-must-be-true statements.

As you might expect, I hinge ALL on the former and dismiss the latter, knowing, however, that this is also visible confirmation that the Bible/Scripture is accurate and can be trusted, both in hindsight of things/events we had not seen AS WELL AS real-time given things/events that are unfolding NOW before us. Amazing, reassuring, exhilarating, humbling, and encouraging. We see what occurs at the moment IS indeed inline with the “play-book” (aka the Bible).

While I pray for the peace of Jerusalem and all its citizens, I do know that time is very, very short. I also pray for us all to be counted worthy to meet Him and escape the inevitable judgment and tribulation.

CLIFF NOTES: You both rock. Praying to go up before the blow up…

  8. I dreamt such a vivid dream last night. While I don’t often have such intensity to dreams, I also do not claim that it necessarily means anything. I feel as if I am suppose to share it, however. I apologize if this is not the best forum, but it seems somewhat to fit the topic.

BTW, I have been out of touch this past week, working at a youth camp, so I don’t think this dream was influenced directly by any immediate current events, as I am not up to date on that.

In the dream, we were fleeing from a relentlessly approaching swarm, which consisted of all kinds of fantastical creatures, some quite beautiful, but others quite horrible. All the creatures had an overshadowing stench of great evil and a clear intent to harm. Some of us had taken refuge in a high rise building, on the top floor. I remember being somewhat surprise at who had chosen to take refuge and who was not there. The swarm was coming up the side of the building, not in a steady flow, but like the tide, leaping up and falling back, but getting closer with each surge. Some companions kept trying to push back the surges, but it was more because they fell back in order to resurge than because we were having any success at repelling them. I had a sense that I was waiting for my Father to arrive and direct us. I remember hearing someone else cry out several times, “Father, what do we do? Father, what do we do?”

We were seemingly trapped, yet the directive came from somewhere to “flee to the center”, and most of us obeyed. One strong young man wanted to stand and fight, to hold off the swarm and give the rest of us time to flee. The last part of the dream was the rest of us urging him not to try and stand before it, but to come with us. The final cry of the dream was “Flee – We cannot stand – This is God Sized!”

It was a disturbing and intensely emotional dream.

    • Excellent dream, thanks for sharing, I would like to add my thoughts to yours…

I was a linebacker in college. If I came rushing up to you from behind and pushed you down, you might sue me for assault. But if you were on the train tracks here in Europe and I pushed you off just a second before a high speed train whizzed by, you might be grateful that I saved your life. You see the ICE trains here can get up to 300KPH, if you’re on the tracks at the wrong time, you don’t have a chance to move.

God sometimes pushes us off the tracks in the nick of time. He could have evacuated Lot from Sodom earlier, but he waited to the last minute. He split the waters for Israel just when the threat from the Egyptians was greatest.
And sometimes the train runs us over. Job was troubled for a season, yet in a great display God showed His power to redeem. Sometimes God walks with us through the fire as he was there for Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. The greatest gift God gives us is Himself. He is with you, His hand is on you, all you have to do is trust Him.

      • Thanks Michael for your many insightful comments and wisdom. With your permission, I’d like to share with the other readers one I received in an e-mail from you recently which I thought was particularly good.

        *From brother Michael Wellman:

“The worst form of inequality is to try to make unequal things equal.” Aristotle

Yep, as Western Culture, we did it to ourselves.

At the siege of Vienna in 1683 Islam seemed poised to overrun Christian Europe. On September 11th of that year Christian Europe won a battle over Islam.

Though, 148 years prior Michelangelo demonstrated we had already lost the war. In his painting the Sistine Chapel he alternated tribute to Roman gods next to Biblical Prophets and Apostles. He was just painting what already happened. Western culture elevated myths and lies to equal standing with truth; this was a direct betrayal of God, a failure that would destroy Nations. Post-modernism now states there are no absolutes, all religions are deemed equal, but logically that would make them equally false.

We created the monster of Islam, invited it in to our borders, and put a sword in its hand.

But there is a hope that outshines the sun, God, our God, has the power to redeem! And through Jesus Christ we find a hope that can transcend persecution, and is absolutely invulnerable to human failure. It transforms our pride to humility, and our anger to compassion. We can look our executioner in the eye, and pray for his deliverance. Because, without Christ this fallen world is as close as he will ever get to Heaven. And with Christ this world will be as close as we will ever get to Hell.

  9. I agree with what Michael says, except for one point. We didn’t create the monster we have invited in and handed a sword. After 6 centuries of growing frustration at the spread of Christianity, Satan decided to enter his own horse in the race.

He possessed a carefully chosen psychopath, and dictated what was to become the Koran. This man was a murderer, a rapist, a plunderer, a pedophile and a megalomaniac (Mohammed).

Islam quickly engulfed millions of square miles of empire and remained a dangerous and powerful evil empire for centuries, even up to the siege of Vienna you pointed out.

Satan was very shrewd to plant this seed in the part of the earth that would give it power in the end times. The oil there is a source of huge wealth transfer, and fuels a decadent God shunning west

Islam was only fallen into disarray and impotence for the last century, after World War I. Thanks to our thirst for huge amounts of oil to fuel our materialistic and immoral western societies, we have given them a transfusion.

I believe this is the one head of the seven from Revelation 13 :

I saw that one of its heads seemed to have been mortally wounded, but this mortal wound was healed. 3 Fascinated, the whole world followed after the beast.
They worshiped the dragon because it gave its authority to the beast; they also worshiped the beast 4 and said, “Who can compare with the beast or who can fight against it?”

While I recognize the evil that Islam is, I harbor no hatred for the Muslim people, most of whom are decent people that were born into a system of deception. The perfect tool for human turmoil.

What an exceedingly brilliant and evil being Satan is!!

    • Hi Dave, Great comment! I think you and Michael are essentially saying the same thing – by purchasing the oil that has made the Islamic countries insanely wealthy, we have both invited them in and handed them the sword (as a matter of speaking). Someone reminded me recently that the very word Islam means “submission” and that Islam is not just a religion but, a political movement. I think this is an important point to remember. Christianity on the other hand, is not a political movement and should never be confused as such. The King we serve is not of this world. Where Islam curses, we, shall bless, thus fulfilling the words of Jesus “by this shall all men know that you are my disciples, that you love one another” John 13:35. Reminds me of one of the songs we use to sing years ago when I went to church camp as a young teenager – “they shall know we are Christians by our love”. No better time in history than now, to demonstrate that difference. Grace and blessings, Cindy

  10. enjoying your revelations..trying to figure out how to follow.
