A Coyote stands and looks out at the Gulf of Mexico

Venice, Louisiana – The end of the world

Yes, Venice, LA is the end of the world, well, at least, that’s its nickname, according to Wikipedia.  Situated 75 miles south of New Orleans on the west bank of the Mississippi River, it is the last community down the Mississippi accessible by automobile and is the southern terminus of the Great River Road, thus, its nickname, the end of the world.  Unknown by most of us until the last few days, Venice is now the scene of worldwide attention due to the vast oil disaster which began 50 miles off her southern shore at the Deepwater Horizon oil rig, which exploded on April 20, killing 11 workers.

 ASH, OIL, DARKNESS, BLOOD

With the first few months of the year barely behind us, we have already witnessed a series of events that would seem to harken back to the plagues on Egypt and the future bowl judgments of Revelation 16.  It would be hard not to believe, with all that has happened, that an obvious picture is not being drawn here, for any one paying attention.  First, we had a series of sizable earthquakes, one after another, closely followed by the Iceland volcano, whose ash threatened the skies and shut down major airports for days on end and now a hemorrhage of the life blood of America leaking unabated from a gash in the ocean floor with potential enough to shut down the gulf fishing industry, not just for days or weeks, but, potentially for decades.

There are of course, news articles all over the place with many different “experts” weighing in on the situation and it is fast becoming evident that almost no one really knows what to do and that anything that may be tried would be purely experimental with little hard evidence, that it might actually work.  In fact, some of the things being proposed, should they fail, could actually worsen the situation.

One article I read claims that the well may be uncappable and with vast quantities of oil beneath the ocean floor leaking through it, it has the potential of causing havoc to all the world’s oceans, not just the waters of the Gulf.  There is the very real potential for destroying all of the world’s oceans.  If you’re like me, when you hear things like that, it’s hard not to think of Revelation 16.

“The second angel poured out his bowl on the sea, and it turned in to blood like that of a dead man, and every living thing in the sea died.”  Revelation 16:3

Is the current oil spill the fulfillment of Revelation 16:3?  Right now, I think its probably too soon to say.  But, if the oil spill should continue unabated at the rate it is going,  I can see how it very well could be. From an article on MSNBC News this morning, University of Berkeley engineering professor Robert Bea, who serves on a National Academy of Engineering panel on oil pipeline safety had this to say – “As bad as the oil spill looks on the surface, it may be only half the problem, there’s an equal amount that could be subsurface too and that oil below the surface is damn near impossible to track.”

From the illustration below, you can see just how much oil there is below, that could be leaked above

A Harbinger

I came across the photo of the coyote at the top of the page when I was looking through a series of about 400 or so photos taken in the Venice area in the days after the oil spill.  From what I read, coyotes are common to central Louisiana, but, how many are typically found as far south as Venice, I don’t know.  In the native American tradition, the coyote is known as a cunning trickster, a shape shifter, a symbol of white and dark magick, stealth and opportunity. I’m not sure what the sighting of the coyote might mean, (if anything)-  but, if God has chosen to use this oil spill as an instrument of his judgment – then, the sighting of the coyote may well indicate, that the adversary sees and knows too  – and, he also knows his time is short.

Friends, God is tuning up the orchestra for the final curtain call.  May our hearts be ready!  He’s coming soon!

  1. Interesting post! This really ties together nicely with this comment someone made on Art’s blog: http://newine.wordpress.com/2010/04/29/fire-islands-and-the-sea/#comment-5090
and John McTernan’s latest blog post (May 2nd)
    Thanks Cindy!

p.s. that forum you linked to is kinda goofy. imho it detracts from your article. =)

    • Hi Jay, Thanks for writing. And, as I do value the opinion of readers like you, I went back and looked at the link and decided, I really could do without it. Deleting did nothing to detract from what I had already written. POOF! It’s gone! Thanks Jay and grace and blessings to you brother! Cindy

      • Dear Cindy,
I am a Bible study teacher with a DD and a THM. I have been studying prophecy most of my life. When I read about the oil spill my mind immediately flashed to Revelation 16:3. I dashed next door where a friend of mine lives who is a nurse. I asked her, “What does the blood of a corpse look like? She replied that it was black and very sticky like oil! That doesn’t mean though that we are presently experiencing the second bowl of God’s wrath. However I do see how it could ultimately turn into that. If this thing has the potential of becoming a global disaster due to some sort of terrorist attack , it could easily mushroom into the same kind of thing happening all over the world as a retaliation. Also, I am not sure what sea is being spoken of in Rev. 16:3. Is it the ocean or is it the Medeterannean Sea? (Not sure if I spelled that correctly.) If it is the Medeterannean Sea then we definitely are not yet at the 2nd bowl of wrath. I have been following a good number of blogs on this subject. The ones that mention the “submarine caused explosion” by North Korea are at least very interesting. One of them said that if this is so then President Obama could possibly order an atomic destruction to seal the leak and if he should do that, countries all over the world would want to be able to possess nuclear weapons so they could also be able to seal any such leaking disaster that they might incur. I have no idea if this might happen or not, I’m not any kind of specialist in such fields. It would though be a clear way opener to World War 111. Thank you for your insights. God bless and keep you. Mary

  2. […] environmentalists are saying that – left unchecked – this oil spill could be an end-of-the-world type event. What better way to prove your ancestors correct than by blowing up a rig? I’m just […]

    • I clicked on the quote by Rush Limbaugh and at the bottom of the article he states that there have always been earthquakes, tsumani’s, volcano’s etc. – and that we shouldn’t get so worked up over “natural disasaters.” While this is true, what he fails to realize is that, while these are indeed natural disasters, – God frequently uses “natural disasters” as instruments of his judgment. Pray for Rush Limbaugh, he is obviously in need of God to open his eyes.

  3. Thanks Cindy. Even the willingness to reconsider is a sign of humility. 🙂

Looks like more record flooding in TN as the rivers start to crest today: http://www.wsmv.com/weather/23328754/detail.html
This plus the oil spill plus the Boston watermain break… what will be next, one wonders.
The Western states seem almost quiet in comparison, though a week ago California had that large storm with hurricane-force winds..

  4. Great post. The Venice “end of the world” nickname really says it all.

  5. Hi Cindy. Thank you for writing on this subject. I can’t find much on the internet that connects the bowl judgments of Revalation with the oil disaster but I had a sickening ‘feeling’ in my gut when I first realized the seriousness of this situation early last week. The media downplayed it the first week so I didn’t pay it much attention. I wonder if that was done on purpose. Anyway, please join me and ask your readers to join me in heartfelt prayer that the Lord might perhaps intervene and not let the beautiful Gulf be destroyed. If it’s His will for this horrific thing to continue then I guess we’ll find out. I’m an animal/critter lover and especially love the ocean and all it’s wonderful creatures and this is totally breaking my heart. It’s as though I have a huge dark cloud over my head every day even though I trust the Lord and I know He is ultimately in control. However, this still bothers me immensely! I pray every day that “I might be counted worthy to escape all these things that are coming to pass and to stand before the Son of Man.” Luke 21:36 So I was hoping not to have to see the ocean die! This just hurts so much! Please pray every day with me and ask Jesus to intervene if this is not a bowl judgment. I always thought that the seals, bowls and trumpet judgments would be in numerical order. Of course God’s timing is not our timing but the Bible does say He is a God of order, not chaos. I just feel that the Devil is behind this whole thing because of John 10:10: “The Devil comes only to kill, to steal and to destroy….” which is exactly what is now happening! I’m also with you in praying daily for the peace of Israel and Jerusalem.

    • Hi Lynne, I agree that it is heartbreaking to think about the beautiful wildlife that will die in this disaster. Living in Hawaii, I have a great appreciation as well for the oceans and the wildlife they support. But, as awful as this is, what is even more heartbreaking is the millions of souls of those created in the image of God, who will be lost in the soon coming judgment if they are not reached with the gospel of Christ before “the door to the ark closes”. As for the sequence of events of the bowl judgments – how they will unfold exactly, I’m not sure anyone knows. Whether the current oil crisis is just a pre-cursor, a warning or perhaps after a number of months of the oil being unstoppable, may perhaps bring the bowl judgment itself wit death to the seas and all that are in it. There is much we do not know, but, this we do know – Jesus is coming soon! Let us make every effort to reach those who he gave his life for and are perishing even now as we speak. Grace and blessings sister, you have a tender heart – remain in prayer! Cindy

  6. Thank you Cindy for the kind words. Yes, you are correct, the lost souls of human beings are far more important to the Lord than the animals and I do pray daily for people to wake up and realize that we are living in the last days before the “hour of trial” that is coming upon the whole earth, to try them that are on the earth….Rev 3:10. I just love His creatures too. To me, they are His handwriting and I cannot bear to see (or think about) them suffering slow horrible deaths covered in toxic oil. There is so much suffering in the world it’s just unbearable to think about it for too long. Grace and blessings to you as well and thank you for helping me pray for life, of both humans and animals, rather than death in this dire situation. “but I (Jesus) have come that they might have life, and have it more abundantly.” John 10:10 Come, Lord Jesus!

  7. I think it’s not the second angel because the actions of the first angel hasn’t happened

  8. close but just a wake up call hope they dont hit the snozz alarme and go back to sleep
