Animas River San Juan County Colorado August, 1 2023
We’ve had scorching temperatures across the Southwest for at least the past month. But Sunday night a little storm blew through that produced a whopping 1/4 inch of rain for us. But evidently in the higher country they saw a sudden if brief torrential rain that brought down massive amounts of red dirt from the surrounding hills in to the Animas River. And from the looks of it you could almost say it had turned blood red.
My daughter and I were driving the short distance from where we live in New Mexico to Durango Colorado when we noticed the river. I’ve lived here ten years and have never seen the river quite so red after a rain storm. It reminded me of a post I had written a few years ago when the Animas River turned a ghastly shade of yellow from a mine spill. I was telling her about it as we were driving but could not quite remember the details or the name of the post I had written. Anyhow, I asked her to pull over so I could snap a picture. So after finding a pullout she stopped the car and I got out. Apparently, I was not the only one curious enough to stop as another car had pulled over as well where a man and woman were standing looking at the river.
On getting out I mentioned to the man that in all the years I had lived in the area I had never seen the river such a muddy shade of red before and he agreed. I asked him where he lived and he said that he and his wife were from the same vicinity as myself in Northern New Mexico. He then went on to ask me if I remembered when the Animas was contaminated from the mine spill and I said I did – in fact, I had just mentioned it to my daughter before we pulled over. He went on to say he was a truck driver and witnessed firsthand how the river (according to him) was actually glowing from the materials spilt in to it.
When I got home I looked up my post regarding this incident and found it interesting that I had written it on August 16, 2015 – although the incident itself happened a few days earlier on the 5th – the anniversary of which is just 4 days from now. In a post titled A Time to Prepare – I had this to say under the subtitle Signs, Signs, Everywhere Signs – and here is what I wrote:
Signs, Signs, Everywhere Signs –
“Not a biblical sign per se, but, I have been watching with interest the contamination of the Animas River here where I live. On August 5, a variety of heavy metals from the long defunct Gold King Mining operation flooded into the Animas River turning its normally clear waters a brackish shade of yellow/orange. And, while the waters have now cleared up (at least on the surface) there are reports that in addition to the massive contamination of August 5 there are also some 230 old mines in the area which have been leaking heavy metals in to this river and others for years with a reported 40 percent of river headwaters in the West affected by it. Wow! And no one is monitoring the situation or doing anything about it. Well, given the mining history of the area, its actually no surprise – but, what I do find interesting is this:
The mine: The Gold King Mine
The river: The Animas (Spanish for spirit, soul– our English word animated would be a derivative of it).
The river down stream that it flowed in to likewise contaminating: The San Juan (Spanish for St. John – as in St. John, the apostle and writer of the book of Revelation).Do you see a picture emerging? Gold, money, wealth, the things of this world polluting and contaminating the spirit to the point of rendering them useless and unfit as far as God’s kingdom is concerned. For the Bible tells us, one cannot serve both God and money”.
You can see here how the river was turned a sickly yellow at the time”.

And for some reason I either missed or didn’t include the following detail – the spill was the result of an accident by the EPA who was supposed to be cleaning up the area or at least mitigating the chances of something like this happening. The incident according to Wikipedia-
***********
So, that was yesterday the eve you might say of Tu b’ Av. We were unable to see the full moon last night due to cloud cover so that was kind of disappointing. And of course at the time of this writing we are still here- there was no full moon rapture on Tu b’ Av.
I’m not sure that the events that transpired yesterday had any meaning at all. It did seem odd that I had been speaking to my daughter about the spill trying to remember the details and what I had written about it when we encountered the man who spoke to me almost immediately using these words:
Do you Remember?
It truly seemed as if the Lord was bringing my attention back to that event and perhaps timing it to what we were seeing yesterday – but for what or why, I truly don’t know. Perhaps, the answer is yet to come.

Watching and waiting with YOU for the soon return of Jesus! Cindy

I asked God for a sign of the rapture and I had an intense dream of a full moon. I’m looking at August 31!

August 30/31 is a”blue moon” and a Supermoon at that- as you probably know…so a blue rapture- works for me. If not, the fall feasts are right around the corner. Thanks for sharing! Looking forward to meeting you in the air soon!
